CLASS HIST OR Y As Freshmen our Hxgh School career started September 4 1945 It wasn t long untml we found out how httle we knew and how lxttle we mxght know and st1ll pass how to manage the faculty and how they occaslonally and we do mean occasionally managed us and that the object of th1s I-hgh School was to produce a good basketball team to whmch we have con tnbuted Well we have It wasn t unt11 the Sophomore year that we contnbuted the most We started out under the d1rect1on of our sponsor Mr Lon J' Godley We were thxrty two strong and out of th1s number we elected our offmers Pres1dent 11m Fox V1ce Pres1 dent Bob Rlchards and Secretary and Treasurer Glowanda Richards We the Fresh1es had a supper dupper p1cn1c on whxch the g1r1s squ1red the boys Boy was It ever a succes Natch Dldn t we have a good t1me trymng to f1nd new parkmg places? We almost got m trouble though when a certa1n boy almost caught the lxttle black house afxre It wasn t long as xt never IS t1ll we were ready to serve another stretch th1s txme as Sxlly Sophomores Wxth Mr Don Murphy as our sponsor We selected off1cers from our thxrty classmates they were Presxdent Bob R1chards V1ce Presxdent Leland Wooldrxdge Secretary and Treasurer Madalyn Johnson Th1s year Hazel Hobson decxded to leave our rmdst to jom the marr1ed adults We were not only s1lly but ornery too That was the t1me when one of our beloved class mates shot Mr F1sher mn the back w1th a water gun Remember how scared we all were Oh Those by gone days Our summers pardon soon ended and once agam we assembled m good ole H H S Mrs McCoy and Mr Werner was lead1ng us th1s year all twenty e1ght of us Our class offxcers were Presxdent Phyllxs Wray V1ce Pres1dent DeWayne Brown Secretary and Treasurer Glowanda Rxchards In our .Tumor year we had a great problem how to make money for the long awamted ban quet so we gave the h1lar1ous comedy The Daffy D1lls Remember how tlckled the audl ence was and how startled a certain member of the play cast was when he recelved a double dose of water durmg h1s f1 It was a great success and a fme play Is we do say so ourselves Besides these fond and treasured memorxes we have our class rlngs to remand us of dear old Alma Mater We worked hard on the decorations for the .Tumor and Semor banquet W1th the theme Mocnlxght and Roses We had a swell banquet and we all worked hard to make It the success xt was st1ll we all had rose fever from makmg so many flowers Remember the Aprzl Fool s day when almost everybody skxpped school? We got off to a good start by se1ect1ng and ordermg graduatwn announcements card and havmg our plctures taken Beszdes th1s we have been very busy workxng on the annu As we sit here Workmg we glance up and Ho There 15 Casper scamperxng around Casp 15 tne Semor mascot and cute as a mouse s ear too we all love hmm dearly although he loves to eat the Semors candy We started the year off wlth a bang, w1th a de11c1ous food that xsj box supper Thxs was our fu-st attempt to make money for our Senxor trxp Next we gave Hxlarmty House that rolhckmg comedy After the play there were some grave problems Now let s see some of that ternble Cologne somebody brought dxsappeared We thought about gettmg Fearless Fosdxck on the job but he was busy wlth the Chlppendale Chaxr at the t1me .Tust before school started DeWayne Brown and Glade Johnson left our mmdst to go to Columbla Mxhtary Academy but after one semester dec1ded to come back to Hardesty ar H H S Also Betty Jo Barnes rejomed us as Mrs Davxd McC1anahan Our hearts were saddened at the loss of Betty Lou Jmes and Vprol Blades One of the ma1n events oi the year was a taffy pull 1n the Home EC room For about week everthmg and everybody st11l looked and tasted llke taffy Klds remember those cold walks around the bu1ld1ng We are lookmg forward to the Jun1or and Senlor Banquet the Aluram Banquet the se t 1p a few more partxes and maybe another box supper Am1d fond memomes we bxd you all ad1eu i0 u Q . : 1 I 4 - U , ' 1 . 1 A I, whose green garters are these? -- No, they're not --Yes, they are, etc. By the way,
