Senior Class Honors he at the saddest moments of the 1078 graduation ceremon- ies was saying goml-bye to Mrs. Beckmun. Since 1956 she could be count- ed on to be on top otheverything that had to do with the school. and now she was leaving with the class of A78. Surely a thew tears were shed us Jerry Ann Mead present- etl Mrst Beckmzm with a medal for distin- guished service as omee Mom'T T0 the strains of Crowning Gloryh processional, the 159 seniors were led in by Luna Bracken escorting JetT Bertea and Steve Melilroy escorting Jerry Ann Mead. Mrs. lidebum received a donation for the lznglish Department from the president of the Senior Women. Beth Goudell. Beth. tirst in the class, also gave the vztledictory address. Another sad moment was the farewell speech of Manolo Garcia, the exchange student from Spain. At the end of his speech, Manolo presented Harbor L 4' nah ttON BEHALF OF THE SENIOR WOMEN . . . Beth Goodall presents Mrs. hdeburn with a monetary gift for the. English Department. 10 ActivitieslGraduation High 3 drawing hell made 0H elippet'ship sailingin the moonlight. Awards received were the following: Doug Gill, the Community Award; Michell Mochoskay. North End Cub Award; Brent Cornstttbble. the Wcmtet-Lehtinen Award: Jeanine Bartlettt the June Clark Award: Jeff Bertea. the William Wasulku Award; Kathy Adams. the Oliver Kutu'u Award: Denise Ilowes. Astuhula Area Teachers Association Award: Jerry Ann Mead and Kelli DeLgaat. the National Honor Society Scholarships; and Anthony Rose. the Senior Class Award. Graduation was livened up when a beagle entered from the parking lot. After he made his rounds among the band, he then went up to the honor students in the front row. tlntelljgent. wusntt heN At one time it looked as if he would go up to the podium. Just think. the first dog to re- ceive a diploma from Harbor High School! Harbor winning 1-1-7. Geneva within 10 yards eta touchdown. and the play hud to be RUN AGAIN! 011. 11th Geneva SCUerW but wait? there was another Hug. Geneva had a little illegal preeedure 01 their own, and the score re- mained 14-7. Harbor had won their tirst game AND the William Walsulko Award! l'lumeetmting WLISHSI just a good week for the football team but for the entire student body as well. It all started at the pep assembly for the St. John game twhieh happened to be the peppiest use sembly of football seasonl. when Mr. Roseovics announced the 1978 Home- coming court: Peggy Amtstrong. Becky Baldwint Luna Bracken, Usu Bracken. Valerie Fleckenstein, Lori Herpy. Kathy Karine. Michelle Martino, and Ragnheidur Jmtsduttit us an ltunutuiy membet. Starting mth the Bench Bttys' hit Little Deuce Coupe. they marched down the held in their 0th little deuce coupe and did :1 routine with circles. Next they featured the Drill Team with Rock Around the Clock. Saturday night the Homecoming Dance was sponsored by the Senior Class tSenior Women decided they'id lust enough on it in previous years.J Once again Lori was crowned. this time by Bruce Miller, who also had a little trouble putting the crown on herepoor Lori! The band Roxide pro- vided the music. Those who stayed at the dance said the band got better as it went along. Unfortunately, many people got tired waiting for them to get good and left after the Fttst halfhuui.
