'fk Xi Dedication Mrs. J ane Clark came to Harbor High School seven years ago, bringing with her an enthusiasm for young people's activities and an efficiency in managing their affairs. She brought with her much experience gained in teaching and in Girl Scout work. She brought, too, a lively interest in people and in living, which she injected into her girls' health and physical education classes. The Cadet Club. the GAA, and the interclass tournaments were her pet school projects. In the community she is very active. The Zonta. Club recognized her as its Woman of the Year for her contributions. She finds time to travel, to read. to play golf, to listen to music. to enjoy her dog, to visit relatives and friends, and to do a. thousand kind and thoughtful things for the sick and lonely. The 1974 Mariner staff dedicates this book to Mrs. J ane Clark. in appreciation of her work at Harbor. We are sure that her retirement from teaching will not mean retirement from life but all the more time and energy for other activities and other people. 711 m rVMtwins OF BKKSKEYBA k A 00091 1 m; ! The librarians must take care of all the books and records and prepare new books for shelving. Seniors 88-63 Junior: 54-59 Sophomores 60-66 Freshman 66-73 Clau Officers 74-76 Advhorl 76-77 . C'LA SSES Class of ,74-Seniors In September. 1971, the class of 1974 entered Har- bor High School, not knowing what to expect. Freshmen memories were our homerooms in the now- extinct Jackson Building and the sale of uPeanut Chrunch and delicious sugar-free candies. Sophomore projects were a pancake breakfast and a. flea market which improved finances. The annual chocolate bar sale finished fund raising as Juniors. The headaches and labor put into hJourney to the Center of the Earth were well rewarded as the result was a record-setting attendance for the 1973 prom. Then, the class of 74 finally became part of the Homecoming festivities after three years of watching from the sidelines. These and other memories of friends and faculty members will be reminders of Harbor High School. SUSAN L. ANDREWS ANN MARY ASMUS CHRISTOPHER M. AVERY LEE. A. ADDAIR MARK R. ANDERSON SAMUEL L. The high point of regular season play was the team's trip to Canton Lehman. Post-season play included participation in the sectionals in Euclid in which the team made a. very good showing. Mark Starkey won the sectionals which qualified him for district play in Akron. In the NEC tournament Harbor was represented in the flnals by three players. Also. in the Warren Andrews Tourna- ment. Harbor participants made another ex- cellent showing with Joe Phillips winning the singles championship and with Pierre and Bob Triozzi taking the doubles crown. Jim McMillan was chosen Most Valuable Player for the season and Mark Starkey received the R. L. Huff Award. Optimistically looking toward next year. Death will come when thou art dead. n Soon, too soon 7 Death came early to claim James Holcomb. George Kaplan. and Terry Frend. all victims ofcar accidents or lingering disv ease. The Mariner devotes this space to their memory. James Holcomb spent only a few months at Harbor. Early in the morning of December 18. 1970. he was struck by a car and died almost instantly. Something of a loner. he had little opportunity to make many new friends here. We pause to remember him. George Kaplan dropped out early in 1971. Then illness over- took him. and he was in and out of hospitals several times before he died on September 1 1. 1973. Let us remember him. Bikes. intramurals. and cars were Terry Freud's main in- terests. He died in a head-on auto crash August 28. 1973, only a few days before this school year began. Many of his classmates will remember him. Senior Directory ADDAIR. LEE 3.: General; Football 1: Senior Men 4: Wrestling 2.3.4. ALTIER. DAVID ALLEN: General: Senior Men 4. Editors We hope everyone who reads this yearbook likes it as much as we enjoyed compiling it. To many. this book contains memories of the happy times. the rough times. the people and places which may someday become vague shadows of a year unlike all others. The staff has spent many hours learning. planning. photographing. drawing. and writing the material that has been printed. Although they learned to work under very unaccomodating conditions. the yearbook staff came through with a very modern and well constructed annual. Sally and I would like to express our gratitude to Miss Boyce. the staff. and those who volunteered their efforts to the betterment of our book. Many thanks also to Mr. Pete Prentner of Walsworth Publishing Company. Photo credits are in order to the Star-Beacon. Robert Barbin and Associates. Art Taylor. studios and our photography staff. Thanks to the people of Harbor High School and the Harbor area for giving us these happy moments. for any yearbook Needs People. WALSWORTII Mtrcellne.
