Harbor High School 221 Lake Avenue Ashtabula, Ohio Fore word llAs time goes by? we look back upon these pages and relive the innumerable events experienced during our years at Harbor High School. Time may dim those memories. but each time we open this book we will re- turn to the halls of Harbor and be reminded of those happy years spent here. For the seniors, graduation may appear as the end but it is really only the beginning of many new and ex- citing experiences. This book will help us carry with us lingering memories of fun, good fellowship, and shared experiences. To the underclassmen, we advise you to cherish your remaining years here. Make the most of it now, for these truly are the best years of your life. T able of Contents Dedication Faculty . . . ................. 18 Seniors . . . We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all those people who have helped make the 1972 Mariner a success. We extend a special thanks to Miss Mary Boyce, our adviser. for all her time and help; to Mr. Pete Prentner, our yearbook rep- resentative; to Taylor Studio, our photographer; and to our staff, who worked hard and long to pro- duce this book. We hope that you will find some enjoyment in these pages, and that it will bring back fond mem- ories for you uas time goes by? mmsw Debbie McElhaney. editor- in-chief . E; 2 and Cathy Sharp. co-editor. Cdzbafion Miss Ann Monaco The dedication this year goes to a woman who remains in the shadows yet has done so much for Harbor High School. She is a friend to all and an indispensable necessity to those whom she advises. She is adviser to the class of ,75 and the Spanish Club and was previously the adviser to the class of 71. She is probably best known for her very active involvement as adviser to the cheerleaders. ' It is for these reasons that the yearbook staff very proudly dedicates Mariner 72 to Miss Ann Monaco. MR. As seniors we are now at the end of a long voyage that took us through an awful lot during the last four years. We have been Mariners on our good ship Harbor High and have managed to some degree to navigate a successful journey and to prepare ourselves for launching upon bigger and better seas. Our first year as freshmen proved to be a good one. We were one ahead of the upperclass- men because we knew there was no elevator in Georgels broom closet. What we didnltknowun- til later was that he had a refrigerator and a pop com machine in there. We learned our les- sons well, and soon we earned our place in the hearts of all Harborites. And as sophomores we sold photo albums, screwdrivers, autogaph dogs -- you name it, we sold it. ttSetting the Pace was our new school motto, and we were caught up in the en- thusiasm. We knew we had the makings for greatness, and with a little more time we were sure we could prove it. The life of a junior was not an easy one. The rumors flew all over the school about the theme of the prom being Moax, and we were stuck trying to define what ltmoax really was. We sold candy bars to helppay for our prom. We worked hard, and we worked in secret, freezing hiding places. tIf we ever see another paper flower...l But our hard work paid off. Our prom, tlThrough the Looking Glass? was, at least in our conviction, the most expensive, successful, and beautiful ever. We are now the seniors of Harbor. Our class has worked hard and long, and we are gaining the respect we have earned. Our athletic teams have shown that they are second to none. We have the right to be proud of our undefeated football team and of the other teams which have put up good fights. Our concert band added another feather to our hat when it was among 50 bands in the whole coun- try to be invited to play this summer in Ger- many during the Olympics. Dramatics groups have presented lively entertainment, and all other departments have acquitted themselves well. Academic and vocational students strive hard and show great promise for the future. We were proud of the excellent showing of our ltAca'demic Challenge team and of the students who have won scholarships and other honors. A11 in all, we can sum up our years at Harbor as years that helped us learn and grow in many ways. Harbor taught us to accept re- sponsibility, and with that we gained the re- spect that will stand by us for the rest of our lives. So all of us -- vocational students, regu- lar students, and college prepies -- say good bye to you, Harbor, and thanks. Class advisers are Robert Rich, Mrs. Mary Beth Dixon, Larry Herl, and Joe Incorvia.
