Mutiny is the death of a ship. There must be respect, yet understanding, between her captain, mates, and crew. To survive at sea a sailor must have a healthy body supporting a healthy mind. Sometimes the sailor will gaze at the sea in longing, 0r spout his wrath when the sea swells in a storm; but the most common look is thejoy of doing, and doing well. Each dawn brings the challenge of surviving to see the next. A life without creativity would be like a schooner without the wind. 861i ca lion Mr. Larry Bragga This yearbook is dedicated with great pride to an actively involved faculty member. This person has given color to our halls, humor to our assemblies, and guidance and friendship to the present senior class. As coach of the baseball team, he brought Harbor into the center of NEC action with increas- ingly improving seasons. For the past four years he has taught biology and served as adviser to the class of 1971. It is for the above reasons that the senior class joins the yearbook staff in dedicating the 1971 Mariner to Mr. Larry Bragga. FACULTY Ashtabula Area Board Of EducatiOn 1., 7 v. '7' Vii! I '1' DR. Our history at Harbor began when we first tripped up the front stairs of the building which was to be our home for the next year. After buying a year's supply of elevator passes, we discovered that the elevator was really George's broom closet. We finally got down to business and started our first class project, a stupendous Christmas nap- kin sale. In the spring of our freshman year, with the help of Mother, we put Broadway to shame with our production of An Apple for the Teacher, which won the one -act play contest. Advisors of the Senior Class are Miss Ann Monaco and Larry Braggat Senior Class officers, pictured at the right, are David Petexson, president; Kathy Frisbie, treas- urer; Tim Moisio, vice president; and Lynn Puchan, secretary. The sophomore year arrived and, along with it, a year of hard work. We held our annual pop bottle drive and the sophomore class car wash, which was rained out after we had washed about ten cars and a semi. The realization that our prom was less than a year away startled us, and we picked our prom committee, headed by Lynn Peura and T 0m Grey. Junior class candy sales, prom commit- tee meetirigs, and chemistry hit us at the beginning of the 1969-70 school year. Fam- iliar cries heard in the various parts of the building at this time were The bottom just fell out of our crucible! Listen. I'll tell you. The theme of our prom is 'Showboat, ', ' I d. w F . Pigeon Power, and Puba walks! As we got busier and busier with the prom construction, we became more exas - perated in our war to keep the theme a secret. At last it was finished -- our beaut- iful prom, Uri Coin dc Paris. Surely the memory of our midnight pickups and deliver ies, the west wall alley, and painting 1700 square feet of bricks will follow us all the days of our lives. September, 1970 7- We're seniors! Fun- ny we didn't feel any different until after the first couple of weeks. Then it hit us. Now we could walk through the halls with an air of pride and a hope of graduation. We could laugh at jokes that we didn't even understand when we were freshmen. Suddenly we found ourselves members of Senior Girls achor Senior Men, hastily pre- paring for such events as the Christmas dance, the Variety Show, and Homecoming. Our homecom ing queen, Lynn Puchan, reigned in a gym bedecked with purple and gold curtains, actually sheets converted thus by a morbid dye job. Each week we heard our senior AFS'er, Toshi Takai, rattling off appeals for Penny Wednesday donations -- in Japanese. When we were finally measured for caps and gowns, we really felt like seniors -- one foot in and the other out of school -- and be- gan setting our sails for graduation. BOB ADAMS CINDY 13! This year the Council held a Student Council Week in Octo- ber to acquaint the student with their representatives, who were elected by homerooms. Students were to give their rep- resentatives suggestions, which were discussed at a mock Council meeting held in the gym before the assembled students. The Student Council sponsors dances, including the annual Welcoming Dance, and organizes assemblies such as the Vet- erans' Day program. Each month the Student Council elects a boy and a girl as Students of the month for outstanding partici- pation in school activities.
