Valedictorian Our Valedictorian this year is Joanne Koski. Although Joanne is graduating witha straight Aaverage, she definite - ly isn't a grind. She has taken an active interest in extra-curricular ac- tivities. She was a delegate to the Y- Teen Conference at Ohio Wesleyan and the Latin Convention at Ohio State. She is a three time winner of the United States Propeller Club Essay Contest. As a result of winning these contests, she has enjoyed three memorable lake trips. She is amemberofthe National Honor Society, Senior Girls, Latin and Spanish C1ubs,Y-Teens, G.A.A.,Usher Squad, and Intramurals . Joanne is plan- ning to go to college next fall. Also Placing in the top ten of the Class of 1955 are the following: Boneita Perskari - 3.7898,Susan Hartman - 3.7314,Diana Laird - 3.5359, MichaelKaih- lanen - 3.4960, Carol Dean - 3.3928, Richard Davis - 3.5900, Kathleen Lack- son - 3.3524, William Stegall - 3.2653. Salutatorian Lois Kay Lehtinen is our Salutator- ian with a 3.868 average. She has a great interest in music but doesn't plan to make a career of it. Besides doing solo work,she has done a great deal of accompanying and has served as Senior Choir accompanist. Lois has received a Superior rating in several district solo contests and in last year's state contest. She is amember of the Nation- al Honor Society, Senior Girls, Senior 'Choir, Madrigal Singers ,ModernDanc- ers, Usher Squad, Thespians, G.A.A., Intramurals, Y-Teens, Yearbook Staff, and Latin Club. She is planning to at- tend Western Reserve Univeristy next fall.

Superintendent Ralph S. Lanham Ourisuperintendent, Mr. Ralph S. Lanham, came to the Harbor Schools in the fallof 1949. Mr. Lanham graduated from Bridge- water College in Virginia with an A.B. and has done graduate work at the University of North Carolina, Madison College, and Wake Forest College. He obtained his M.A. from Ohio State University. The Harbor community is justly proud of the fine work Mr. Lanham has done here. Board of Education PAUL E. HAKALA, PRESIDENT -- Mr.-Haka1a was elected to the Board in November, 1945. He was elected President of the Board in January, 1946, and has served as President since then. He is a graduate of Harbor High School. JAMES G. LAIRD, VICE-PRESIDENT -- Mr. Lairdhas been the Vice-Pres- ident since his election to the Board in 1945. He is a. graduate of Harbor High School. DR. CARL G. PEARSON -- Dr. Pearson has been a member of the Board since January, 1950. He is a graduate of Ashtabula High School. HARRY G. BUONOMO -- Mr. Buonomo has been a member of the Board since January, 1952. He is a graduate of Harbor High School. CHARLES D. POTTI -- Mr. Potti has been a member of the Board since January, 1952. He is a graduate of Fairport High School. ROBERT Z. KOSKI, CLERK OF THE BOARD-- Mr. Koski has been Clerk of the Board since January 15, 1946. He is a graduate of Harbor High School. L. 10 R.
