Homecoming '82 was an evening filled with excitement. Even though it was rainy, this seemed to spoil no one's fun. Because the game was a very close one, the team and fans were going wild. Haralson County won an important region game as they beat Villa Rica, a region competitor, 8-7. The band was great; they played “Home while the homecoming court was introduced. The crown- ing of the queen. Miss Holly Eaves, was the highlight of the even- ing. followed by Ruckus which entertained at one of the best dances ever. 93 Tammy Gober escorted by Chip Gober Suzanne Lee escorted by Ryan Newman Senior Court Sandra Parham escorted by James Houston Laura Williams escorted by Allen Garner 94 Achievements Senior Court: Suzanne Lee. Mrs. Burgess re- ceived her A B Degree at LaGrange College, followed by her M.A. Degree at West Georgia College. She is the mother of one son. two daughters and has four grandchildren. Her help and understanding as a teacher and a friend has earned her this year’s Star Teacher Award. Vanessa Harrison has been a student at HCH for three years. During this time she has been in many activities. She is the President of Beta Club. Co-Captain of the Varsity Cheerleading Squad, and the Secretary of Student Council. She is also a member of the Society of Distinguished American High School Students. Who’s Who Among American High School Students, and a recipient of the Unit- ed States National Leadership Merit Award. She has received a UGA Certificate of Merit and Presbyterian Junior Fellowship award. Her accomplishments include nomination for Governor's Honors, and membership in the West Georgia Math League and Scholars' Bowl. Based on these outstanding achievements and a high SAT score, Vanessa has been chosen as this year’s Star Student. 111 Outstanding Seniors Kcri Allen Jill Bowman Tammy Browning Steve Carter Dyla Dingier Ronnie Gable Vanessa Harrison Suzanne Lee Lisa McBurnett 112 Helen Sporri Jeffrey Thompson Sandra McElroy Lori Price Marie McConnell John MeGraw Angie McDowell Darien Mize FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT Irene Tschann, a foreign exchange student from Switzerland has been experiencing the American life style and culture while a student at Haralson County High School this year. She is a 17 year old young lady, who lives with Carl and Ruby Shackleford of Bremen. She arrived in Atlanta in August and will leave for Switzerland in June after school is out. Georgia lifestyle is much different from that in Switzerland. Irene said; everything from the climate to the food to the education system is different. Here it seems that most of the kids are dressed alike the same kind of shirts, the same kind of shoes. It’s not so much like that in Switzerland. Also. Swiss girls are not as interested in the dating game as Americans. Irene said it seems that girls down here think only about their boyfriends. The school schedule has been an adjustment for Irene, too. In Switzerland, the school year begins in April, and it lasts virtually all year with liberal vacations scattered through- out. She was introduced to the foreign exchange program in school and decided it would be interesting to learn something about the American culture. 114 The Best of Fellowship 115 Jeff Lanier.
