•' TALLAPOOSA SCHOOLS TALLAPOOSA, GEORGIA LYN GARRETT, Editor Just as 1970 brings with it a new decade, we at Tallapoosa are also moving from the old to the new. With the construction of the new high school building, we are nearing our goal for future education and unity in our community. As this school year comes to an end, we will often reflect upon the past but at the same time be ever conscious of the future. Through the efforts of our teachers, we hope to have acquired the courage and knowledge to challenge life's obstacles and to build for a brighter tomorrow. Dedication 4 Although the journey through high school is sometimes hard and trying, the students at T.H.S. have found a teacher of teachers. He stands out among all others because of his patience and understanding. During his three years at Tallapoosa High, he has worked hard to better the lives of those he teaches. He has shown devotion to his work, and a special interest in his students. By going above and beyond the call of duty, he has become a friend to all. It is with great pride and admiration that the staff of the 1970 Rebel dedicate this book to a man we have all grown to love and respect, Mr. Curtis Watson. 5 Advertisers 111 ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY Haralson County Board Of Education Wilson Freeman, Superintendent Office Staff: Jean Spiva Jean Sanders Joan McIntyre Office 8 To friends, faculty, and students: Better education and preparation for the future is our school's goal. The road ahead will be a difficult one to travel many times, but the problems can be solved with the continued cooperation of the students and the help and inspiration of the faculty. This has been a good year. There was learning, fun, wins, and losses in sports, much activity participation along with many smiles and a few tears. All of which make life a joy. Strive always to improve each day's usefulness not only to yourself but for the whole of humanity. It will bring much pleas- ure, if all your life you make every effort to live by it. Through your hard work and dedication you have captured the hearts of every sports loving fan in Haralson County. You have given everyone something they can take pride in, something your fellow students can be proud to be a part of and something you as Rebels can cherish in the years to come. This did not come easy for you. You have spent many hours of hard work, made many sacrifices and overcome unsurmount- able odds to reach the peak of success you now enjoy. To those of you who are leaving us by graduation I want you to enjoy the satis- faction of knowing that you are leaving behind you a fine example for others to follow. You have set a tradition of pride, dedication and team spirit that is necessary for all to have in order to be a winner. It is my prayer that what you have learned in the game of football will benefit you in your future years. If you play the game of life with the same dedication, enthusiasm and perseverance I am sure that you will enjoy the success as you have as a Rebel. To those of you returning I want to urge you to dedicate yourselves to follow through with the same tradition of those before you. To always work hard and diligently to keep the Rebels on top, and to do nothing that will reflect anything but pride and respect to the name of the Rebels. Let me say that I consider it an honor and a privilege to be the Head Coach of the Rebels for, to me, you are the finest. No coach could ask for anymore than you have given me this year. You will always be NO. 1 in my book and it is my sincere wish that you will always treasure your playing days as a Rebel as much as I will as your coach. Always remember- Lifes Battles do not always go to the stronger man but sooner or later the man that wins is the one who thinks he can!
