But here Coach Brown showed his skill by fielding a team which gave him the 2nd best season of his 9 years at H.U.B. With expert aid from his 2 assistants, Back Field Coach, Joe Nary and End Coach, Ray Hudson, Coach Brown inspired his team to unexpected heights. GRIDIRON l950 The l950 football season gave us an unexpected series of victories as our Tigers hit with full force each of their l0 opponents. Ot the 8 games won, none was as excitedly awaited as the 2l -6 victory over Ken Hi, our long-time rival. Almost as thrilling was our 6-0 triumph over the Munhall lndians as we watched Willie Ellard splash his vvay 65 yards to pay dirt. The Tigers scored a total of l98 points. BASKETBALL The Har-Brock J.V. coached by Charles Gugino enioyed a very fine season in '5l by compiling a l5 wins-5 losses total. The best game of the season for J,V. was turned in, in the Ford City game, when the Tiger Cubs trounced the Glassers 48 to 28. Other excellent games were the two games played against Butler, when the Golden Tornado's J.V. was handed two of its 3 losses of the season. The top scoring honors of the team went to Bob Young who compiled 202 points tor the season. Next in line for scoring honors with l65 was Dan Bralski generally regarded as the class of the team. The Cubs scored a total of 797 points against the toughest competition in the W.P.l.A.L. while holding their opponents to only 615. ln view of the tact that the Tigers will lose tive seniors from the Varsity and the all-round good performance of the Cubs, the entire squad is expected to be playing on the varsity in '52 VARSITY BASKETBALL The l-lar-Brock Tigers weren't very highly rated at the beginning of the 'Sl season due to the fact that they had lost four of their five starters in the graduating class of l95O. Only Tom Young, the Tiger's star forward, returned for action from the 'SO team, At first the going was a little rough for the boys when they lost 3 out of the first 4 games, but it wasn't long till they hit their stride and began winning games to finish the season in a blaze of glory winning the last 5 out of 6 games. These last wins included a 52 to -lO win over Butler which eliminated them from the W.P.l.A.l.. race and a hair raising 5-l to 53 victory over Ken l-li, The Tigers were led in these games by Tom Young who possessed the highest average in Section l, Besides having the highest average in his section, Young eclipsed the all time high scoring at l-lar-Brack set by Clyde Allen by scoring 326 points. The Drevious high held by Allen was 3l5. Other honors were all W.P.l.A.L. honorab'e mentions given to Tiger guard, Rudy Mattioli and Junior forward, Ted Collins, Young was also named most valuable player in the section surpassing such players as Zelelc and Schrengost of Ford City. An additional luster given to the l-lar-Brock season was the two victories they held over Tarentum Section ZA champs. The Tigers defeated Tarentum Sl to -ll on their home court and narrowly got by with a 32 to Bl victory on the Redcat's home ground. However, their assistance was valuable in gathering pictures and snapshots for cer- tain pages of this publication, These tour, Bob Toepter, Betty Bayer, Kay Ohl and Larry I-lilliard, then, assumed work on the literary phase of this book. BUSINESS COMMITTEE: Nancy Rosselle, Nancy Bradley, Barbara Spiess, Business Manager, and Pat Haube, The most important part in any production is the financing ot it, These 4 little lasses had the difficult task ot being certain that there was always cash in the treasury to pay all obligations. Getting bills paid on time, getting all possible discounts and economiz- ing wherever necessary and whenever possible were COMMITTEES also details which were taken care of by this com- mittee. ART COMMITTEE: Barbara Jancula, Miss Christiohn, Mimi Carlisle, Mabel Bar- ton, Bob Hammond, Don Nesteruk. Missing-Steve Lucas, The hardest working and most reliable of all com- mittees was the Art Committee. Under the expert supervision ot its editor, Barbara Jancula, this com- mittee proved that art work can be tun as well as educational. The lay-out, the plans, the dummy copy and the engravings came from the hands of this active group. Miss Christjohn, though not a regular sponsor, was willing to assume command of this work. Night and clay during the production period of this book both she and our sponsor, Mr. Stinebiser, spent their time discussing plans, positions on certain pages, how to save money and innumerable other phases ot produc- tion hazards. The Tiger Staff wishes to take this opportunity to thank Miss Christjohn for her splendid work by saying that her work speaks for itself. s T 1 N A .sw is l fs I 'D g at !
