Though The baTTles were long and hard, The Warriors always won-if noT in poinTs, in sportsmanship. The cifizens always remarked afTer seeing a game wiTh The Warriors, Those boys have The True, honest spiriT of good sporTs. They will go far. And sure enough, They did go far. Now, They are playing The game of life, playing iT in True sporfsmanship. -Doris PaTe Dedication In giving honor to those to whom honor is due, we cannot omit a member of our faculty, who by his untiring zeal in helping the members of this class has endeared himself to them. Starting as our eighth grade teacher, he has continued with us, and we find him now, our teacher and sponsor. He still has the same spirit of co-operation that he has exhibited all these years. He has been a friend out of class as well as an under- standing teacher in the schoolroom. THE CLASS OF l95O also dedicate their WARRIOR to MR. C. C. PRICE' Principal Assistant Principal THOMAS A. I wanted to visit some of my old school chums so I thought I would go on a tour. I'm on old man now and l've seen much of life, but I hadn't seen anything until I found out what my friends were doing. I went to the midwest where Raymond Radford, who is a confirmed bachelor, is writing a book entitled, Live Alone and Like It . I went south where I found Ted Maxwell, who is head coach at Texas A8lM. He is married to Veneto Fair and they are raising their own athletes. I went west, Imogene Holder and Wanda Milhorn are starring in the Academy Award winner, A Friend Indeed . I went back east, J. J. Minton is running for president of the United States. His worthy opponent is Phil Garland. I went back to Tennessee where I found Ralph Range, now the pastor of the Big Springs Baptist Church. He is married to Peggy Mclieehan. I then went north to New York City. Margaret Atkins and Mary Ferrell are co- owners of the exclusive night club, Club Moocha' Moola. I traveled back west where I saw Richard Phillips and Ben Hayes starring in foot- ball tor the Los Angeles Rams. Still in the west, Macel Snell is the successor of Judy Canova. Bob McGee is her press agent. Then I went north to Chicago. Millard Clark is running for president of the Liars Club. Louise Emmert is his opponent. Chester Bageant is now teaching French at Happy Valley. He is the successor of Mrs. R. T. Hendrix. Billie Lou Bowery is now the Dean of Women at North Carolina University. Bill Swatzell is now teaching school and coaching a little on the side for the Cloudland Highlanders. I went southeast where Loraine Sparks, a rich heiress is living in Florida. She is donating heavily to the home for Sick Cats. Doris Pate and Peggy Taylor are private Iand I do mean privatel secretaries for Felix Lowe, who is the Secretary of Treasury. Ann Green is the successor of Mrs. G. E. Treadway as librarian of Happy Valley School. Anna Belle Edens is now working in Knoxville, Tennessee, at Lyons View. She is working for Dr. Jack Tester. She is well suited for her work. -Richard Tittle Senior Class Histor As we entered the halls of Happy Valley High School in l947, we wondered around scared and bewildered by the big issue facing us for the coming years. Seventy-two freshmen were registered and started out to win their goals and obiectives to be gained in high school. The highlight of our freshman year was the electing of Albert Peeks and Joyce Barnette as our king and queen representatives. Peggy Treadway was chosen Miss Freshman. As the year began to end we had happy days such as parties, receiving our annuals, and closing with all our woes behind. We then were ready to undertake another year of school. Coming in as sophomores, we each knew we had conquered one of the milestones. We had a busy life that year, such as the electing of Veneta Fair and Ted Maxwell as our candidates for king and queen, and Delores Buck as Miss Sophomore. That year we were privileged by having as our sponsors, Anita Goans and James Price. Social activities were enioyed to the fullest by all the sophomores. When our iunior year began, many had fallen from our ranks because of lack of zeal and knowledge. We then were Jolly Juniors . Great happiness came to us as we received our class rings, elected Hazel Gauge as Miss Junior, and had our parties. Our sponsors were Miss Cross and Mr. Gauge. During this year we were State Champs in basketball and several of our juniors were on the team. ln the fall of '50 we re-entered the halls of Happy Valley as Dignified Seniors . Several of our classmates were missing this year, including our coach, Mr. John Tread- way, to a neighboring school. He was re-placed by two wonderful fellows as well as coaches, Mr. Carl Gauge and Mr. R. C. Bayless. Our hats are off to them and the Watauga Conference Champs. We are proud that our football team has not lost a game in eight years. Congratulations Champs! As the days went to weeks, the weeks to months, we realized that our days at Ole H. V. were swiftly coming to a close. We elected Phil Garland as our class president and we deeply feel that our choice was a very good one. Veneta Fair represented our class as Miss Senior. The seniors enjoyed many a happy hour as we attended parties with our wonderful sponsors, Mrs. Treadway, Miss Collins, and Mr. Price. Our appreciation can never be told to the fullest. As we travel on toward new horizons we can never forget the days we spent in the halls and the classrooms at Happy Valley. To our dear, patient teachers we humbly wish to thank them for their helpfulness and continued interest in us. May the Senior Class of i950 never be forgotten in the hearts and minds of our lower classmen. Historian-Bonnie Snodgrass I I 40222 President ,,,,,777 Vice President ,e7e,,. Secretory .......
