Each of us is endowed with abilities to reason and learn. These are gifts of our Creator, but is up to the individual to take advantage of these pre- cious gifts. Our community has provided the proper environment whereby our abilities might be developed to our own credit as well as to honor our parents. The Round-Up is a splendid example of trained and developed abilities. May it be a pleasure to each of us in the future to look at our annuals and be reminded of our accomplishments in 1948-49. Sincerely. di' ' A. Dooley Superintendent

To the Students of Happy High School: We are now approaching the end of another school year. Let us stop long enough to evaluate our qualities and to criticize our shortcomings. Whether you are a senior who will become a part of our growing economic, social, and poli- tical order, or a student who will return to school another year, it is important to know one's self. Socrates once said, Most people dislike to think hard about anything— most of all to think hard about them- selves, because any sort of close self- examination is likely to show that they are leaving undone those things which they ought to do. Have we been co-operative, loyal in our school connections, sympathetic in our dealings with others, and honest in our convictions and principles? If not, let's weigh the evidence; that which is good, keep and improve; that which is bad, eliminate.
