Each day was set up with certain acti rities so the entire student body could get the homecoming spirit. 38 During homecoming, each day had a certain style such as, hat and sock day, gross out day, 50 ' s day, dress up day and jersey day. Each grade also had a hall and a float to decorate, and a skit to perform. The class that had the most spirit at the end of the week won the spirit stick. On Friday there was a parade and the game. The dance on Saturday night culminated the week. 39 40 4 , ' Vtg tS 1 Sports Varsity Football Rebuilding Hornets Post a 3-7 Record 1980 was a rebuilding year for the Hornets. The classes that are taught range from Physical Science to Human Physiology. 77 Physical Education and Industrial Arts Physical Education offers a variety of sports and games such as voUeyball, tennis, golf, field hockey, bowling, football, and basketball. The students use the skills and abilities that they have learned in the past and develope them even further in these classes. Three of the most important things taught are good sportsmanship, fair play, and competition. These skills have a great carry over value for the future. The Industrial Arts classes give students a chance to express their creative talents in wood-working and drafting. The classes are taught by Coach Ramsey. The students learn the ins and outs of industrial and architectural drawings and technical design. 78 Special Education Hapeville houses one of two modified self-contained learning disabilities programs in Fulton Count}- High Schools. The program is designed to serve students who are of normal intelligence, but have a deficiency in one or more of the psychological processes. Students can take two to four classes per quarter in this setting. English, Social Studies, Math, and Science are generally taught. 79 Music And Art Art is an elective subject which is available to all students. The art room is equipped with kilns, a printing press, and a variety of materials which make possible a variet} ' of visual experiences. The band is one of the many organizations which build and support the school spirit. The Drill Team and the Majorettes add a great deal of excitement and color to the band. 80 I -?o Business Education And Home Economics The Business Department offers courses for both college bound and those planning to go immediately into the business world. Their leadership club is the Future Business Leaders of America. FBLA. If you smell something good in the halls next to the library, it ' s probably from the Home Economics Department. Mrs. Boyles works all day teaching students to cook and sew. 81 English Shakespeare, Modern British Literature, Southern Litera- ture among others compose the EngUsh courses offered at Hapeville. The students are introduced to the different periods of English and American Literature as well as composition and rhetoric. 82 Mathematics The Math department endeavors to help the student further his knowledge of working mathematics, through classes in 8th grade math, pre Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II. Analysis, and Calculus. 83 Library The library is one of the centers of the school. It has 12,714 books and reference materials. It subscribes to 73 magazines and five papers. Seeing in my memories, The good times we shared. ; thought that I loved you, — ■- thought that we might last. But now I look back. It ' s all in the past. 1 Our few times together, I had wished it would be forever. Sometimes you would be so gentle and tender, You could ju st give the o.k. and I would willingly surrender I really thought that you loved me, I guess I just paid a small fee. I ' ve been hurt before, and in the 1511 future, mavbe I will be more. They say when rot; love someone, ou seem to leave some things unsaid and undone. Maybe in the future, when I look at your pictures, and look back at that time in my memories, I won ' d hurt any longer and my love for you won ' t be any stronger. Miranda Whisenhunt : .aildl ' ::ii 7W And Dedicated to Steve When it first started, we didn ' t know what we were getting ourselves into. We both had been hurt before and didn ' t know what to do. As time passed us by, we really began to care. We both began to realize, our feelings we could share. My Love began growing more and more everyday. And I knew we would never part, not ever, no way. We have had some problems that we had to take care of And now I ' m so happy, because we are so much in love. If something happened to us, I don ' t know what I would do. So, Babe, please stay by my side and love me as much as I Love You! ' • Barbara Cox It is night dark and silent as I walk along the streets.
