Wi FL- A' I I On a bright sunny September morning in l9h9, thirty beamlnv and energetic boys and girls entered the portals of H H S The surprised expressions on the faces of the faculty of the student body told us that we were to be the green freshmen of l9h9 and 1950 One of the first tasks which the class undertook was to elect office s as follows Pres , Pete Falcon, Vice Pres , Donna Singleton, Sec , Robert Christie, res , Marilyn Laue We elected Mr Webb, coach, as our sponsor Three weeks after we start ed our schooling at Hanover High the customary initiation day arrived For th1S event, the girls had to wear gunny sack dresses, hair put up on their heads with a corncob in it, green neckties, no make up, one high heel shoe and one low heel shoe, and carry our books in a bucket The boys had to wear gunny sacks, make up, plow shoes, and camry a club That that gave Pres Koch Every time we met a sophomore we had to say 'Me cave man or Me cave woman night they gave us a very nice party Although we didn't like all we had to do day, it was one of the biggest days of our high school ca eer In the spring we the sophomores a party All our class returned our sophomore year Our officers were elected as follows , Vernon Nieman, Vice Pres , Robert Christie Treas , Marilyn Laue, Sec , lla Mae We again elected Mr Webb for our sponsor This year it was our turn to in itiate the freshmen They gave us a party in return Thank you freshmen! The second semester Marilyn Gerleve did not return A number of the sophomore class were in the all school play, The Tin Hero At the end of the year we had a havrack ride whlch we will never forget 52, answered the roll call we found we had lost Marie Falcon We added a new member to our class again elected our sponsor, and also Mr Lindahl as ected as officers Pres , Norwood Blanke, Vice Pres Tres , Louise Brockmeyer At the second semester, first big activity of the year was to give our class play, nHoney in the year we had many activities to raise money for our prom and ou theme of our prom was nHolland Gardens A tulip garden was placed In September of 1951 27 students destined to be intelligent999 Juniors of 1951 Donna Singleton, Louise Brockmeyer Mr Wekb was co sponsor The , Vernon Nieman, Joy Lohse moved Eddle Dusin, and following were el Sec ,lla Mae Koch, to Beatrice Our the Hive W During senior trip The all around the gym with a picket fence in front of it A large wlndmill was placed in the corner and a wishing well in the center Our table decorations and servers carried out our theme One of the brightest days of the yea1 was the dav we received our class rings Q . -J' s., ,- -f L, ' 1 . 7 .7 .1 ' FX 65? It seems she ac- quired his teaching technique and overpowered him. As we talk to her we farm owned by Norman Rettig who is noted Ihr his corn raising. find a large As we fly on gantic Mobil but seems he find that it fi:-.9 Q we come to a small town, only one building and a very large one at than a gi- gas station owned by Ernie Wehling Ernie is trying farming on the side line does better in his station Nearby we land on a secluded lot and is a farm owned by Norman Klataske and his wife, the former LueHa Gerdes It seems that they raise very good crops, including children W asked her if she's seen Verla Niemann lately and found that she was working in a butcher shop owned by Richard Vlach Rich still plays football with a home 7 Q, 3 An- town team and seems to leave his shop to Verla quite often Neither has found the right one yet' As we go on north we find that Paul Bunyan's lumbering camp has been taken over by Richard Rohlf Evelyn Sand, chief cook and bottle washer for the camp, gets very disgusted at his large appetite In his off working hours he seem 455. s to console her pretty well As we fly over head we see a large accident It seems Joanna will never learn how to drive Arlen Hannon, the scene It seems tmat she M D was called t is used to patching n' In the distance decide to stop for lunch Who should come up all the people Joanna has we see a nice white cafe and to take our order but Marilyn Laue She stays in the kitchen supervising quite a lot of the time as her chief cook is Bob Christie We see a very prosperous farm a short distance from town owned by Melvin Lohse He eats most of his meals at Marilyn's injured, especially me Cafe It seems he still has an interest in her Melvin tells us about some of hls old class mates He informs us that Willie Droegemueller owns a large coal mine in California We take a spin up to see what he's doing,and find him spending most of his time in Hollywood not because he wants to be in pictlres but because of the beautiful make up artist non other taan JoAnne Ioseman Needing gas we stopped at an airport to refill We see I that Verlin Welch has just dropped in after being on a flight to New York Bernice Goeckel takes a great interest in flying and makes all these trips with him They invite us to go home and see their nice family of six kids and on the way they tell us of a mechanic that works at their airport, an old classmate Ieroy Wiese Leroy's doing pretty good for himself as all he can afford is a motorcycle to take girls for rides WhUe in New York they read that Norwood Blanke's all star basketball team had just returned from the olympics, winning first place for the U S , Pete Falcon is Norwood's star player, making over half the points After seeing Bernice's family we land on the roof of Mr R Mrs Vernon N1eman's cottage Mrs Nieman is the former r f'gnWV lla Mae Koch They seem to stay home quite a lot They always liked to be alone you know lla Mae for him runs in It is getting late so we decide to stop for evening dinner at Henry's, the owner is typist for a health institution, and who do you as he can have his health taken care of properly Vernon every now and then to be sure Mae is keeping at her work being Henrietta Kruse Henrietta tells us we should stay and listen to the orchestra and it will be a big surprise to us We find the leader being Dorian Meyer She nlays U 1 of course, with trombone player 4, nrst horn play -' could itdo any play too long as fighting over as ma-ig e trumpet That music r ally sends dnlls through a PSTSOHQ the help of her first Harold Bruna, and her er, Roger Meyer, how thing else They d1dn't Roger and Harold got to to who would see Dorian 4 2 x INK home This ends a per ec y wonderful time and we wish the best of luck to all our classmates no matter what their walk in life might be 'asf Sponsors Snack Shop Hanover Co op Oil Co.
