Annette Barrash - Secretary Chris Dunham Jerry Callahan - President Larry Straight John Liberg Peg Otis School Hoard’s Message Sending off well-prepared graduates has long been a source of pride to the Hanover School and community. Because declining enrollment and decreases in revenues resulted in a reduced program, the Hanover School Board knew that to make further cuts in the educational pro- gram would mean graduating our students with less than an equal opportunity to compete beyond high school with others. To pursue consolidation was a choice with which we wrestled. There was no wish to end a long and proud traditionthat meant so much to Hanover. But when the time to decide arrived, our primary and man- dated responsibility of providing an excellent educational opportunity was the reason we chose to pursue consolidation with Elizabeth. Since the first of the year, the school boards, administrations, facul- ties and students of both districts have been working and planning together. There will be, as promised, greater academic and co-curricular opportunities for all students. Let us all cheer our new River Ridge School District. Annette Barash I Don Crawford

Jn Special Kecognitm Mrs. Marilyn Eherhardt Mrs. Marilyn Eberhardt, affectionately know as Marilyn by the Hanover students and faculty, has been a beneficial member of the Hanover School system for 35 years, serving as office secretary and bookkeeper. As she retires, Marilyn has the distinc- tion of having the most years of service in Hanover School's history as well as the most years in educa- tional duties in the Illinois Northwest Region. For the hundreds of Hanover students, Marilyn has served many roles: nurse, counselor, lunch provid- er, truant officer, and helper. Over the years, as Marilyn's duties increased because of new state re- ports and various new aspects of education, Mari- lyn has easily adapted to all of the changes. Marilyn graduated from Hanover High School in 1948 and has been a lifetime resident of the Hanover community. Currently, she is a member of the Han- over Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Organization. Marilyn was also a past member of the Eastern Star, serving as the youngest Worthy Matron of the Crescent Falls (Hanover) Chapter. During her leisure time, Marilyn and her husband Richard enjoy playing bridge and travel- ing. The 1985 Revonah says a very special thank you to a very special lady, Mrs. Marilyn Eberhardt, for her 35 years of loyalty, dedication, service, and help- fulness to the Hanover School system. Mr. Bertram Murphy Mr. Bertram Murphy began his career in educa- tion at the Long Hollow country school in 1950. In 1952 he began teaching sixth grade at Hanover. Since then, Mr. Murphy has spent over half of his life dedicated to the Hanover School system. In 1953 he became the seventh grade teacher, and from 1955 until 1957, Mr.Murphy served as the eighth grade instructor. During the 1957-58 school term, Mr. Murphy taught high school social studies and served as acting principal. In 1968 he became Han- over's first principal. Later, Mr. Murphy also served as Athletic Director. In 1984 Mr. Murphy retired after serving 34 years as an educator. Mr. Murphy is married to the former Nora Bal- lein, and they have a daughter, Erin, and three sons, Michael, Sean and Kevin. Mr. Murphy has been very active in the community as a member of the Red Devil Booster Club and the Lion's Club. Also, he has been a member of the Illinois Principals' Association. For Mr. Murphy's love, pride, and loyalty for the Hanover School system and for his dedication to America's youth and their education, the 1985 Re- vonah says a special thank you to Mr. Bertram Murphy.
