DEDICATION It is with pleasure that the Revonah staff dedicates the 1980 Revonah to Mrs. Bette Dayton. Mrs. Dayton taught English in the Hanover School system for five years. During this time she also served as Revonah staff advisor. We are recogniz- ing Mrs. Dayton not only for her hard work, but also for the excellent quality with which she did it. For her understanding nature and genuine con- cern for her students and for her diligent work, the dedication of the 1980 Revonah is our way of congratulating a worthy person on a job well-done. When the construction was finished, it was only a beginning. On that Christmas vacation when the faculty moved books and materials into this new educational institution, who would have guessed that the young people who entered this school and who graduated from it would set the paths of several generations to come. The education that took place was dedicated to the building of minds and bodies that could change the world to come. 2 Yearbook Staff - Sit- ting: Jo Anne Massie, Marshall Rail, Lois Ha- zel, Delores Menezes, O.L. Because of my illness, I wasn't able to spend the whole year with you physically, but I have fol- lowed your activities and achievements and have been proud of all of you. Since this is my last year as your su- perintendent, I will call this my farewell letter to all of you. I am now finishing my 30th year in the field of education. The happiest days of my educational career have been here in Hanover. I have found the community, especially the youth, friendly and respectful and kind. I could not find any other community to compare to Hanover, and this includes my home town. Each of you is lucky to have the opportunity to live, play, and be educated here. Hanover School shall always be my school, and the stu- dents shall always be my students. The Class of 1980 will be my last graduating class. You will always be special to me and I wish each of you the very best in life. I shall never forget any of you. GOODBYE! Keith R. Barkdoll, Supt. Congratulations to the Class of 1980. You have reached a milestone in your life. High school is over and the opportu- nities of the 80's are there for your asking. You are enter- ing a new decade, but your basic needs, beliefs, and tradi- tions must be carried on to give you an impetus to succeed in the future. You are our future and we trust and know you will do well. Each generation had its problems and solved them. Progress is made by attacking new problems and working toward the solution. The key to the future is still the worth and dignity of the individual. God Bless you in the years ahead. Remember to be good to your parents and to be proud of yourself, family, community, and na- tion. God speed ahead. Mr. Murphy 21 Mr. Becker B.S. I.S.U. I'd like to thank my staff for all their efforts, and especially Miss Farral for all the long nights she stayed with me to pull us through. Sincerely, 0 Editor 35 Librarians Mrs. Wilbricht, M.K. We've had some exciting moments, even in our losses. Of course, nothing can beat a victory especially when you have two grand slam home runs. Kevin Murphy and Bob Nolan were the first to hit ones in our victory at Elizabeth. Our congratulations to our All-Conference players: Brian Callahan, Todd Bonar, and Kevin Murphy. Honorable men- tion went to Tim Callahan and Jim Nobis. We have many players giving up part of their summer, and I want to thank them for their dedication. I know the future looks bright for us. We have a lot of young players who are learning. If we want to succeed, we must make mistakes in order to learn. Once those mistakes are put aside, LOOKOUT! Coach Kumor In my first year as a head basketball coach, I discovered that in building a successful program there is more work than you can imagine. As they say, Experience is the best educator . Believe me, I got my share of experience this year. Certainly next season we will be better organized and therefore more successful. I trust everyone is looking forward to an exciting decade of basketball as we enter the 1980's! Coach Becker The 1980 Hanover girls' basketball team went through a rebuilding year. Their two victories, however, came in tournament play. The first was an impressive 64-44 victory over Savanna for third place in the Valentine Tournament. The second came in the Regional Tournament with a 52- 46 triple overtime victory over a Scales Mound team which had defeated them twice during the regular season. With three returning starters, the Hanover girls' basketball team should be much improved next year. Coach Teberg 51 Varsity Club Varsity Club is an organization composed of high school athletes who work together to improve and to maintain everwidening athletic abilities with new equipment and supplies. This year they sold Devil t- shirts and sweaters, sponsored cake raffles at basketball games and are currently considering the purchase of a leaper for the athletic department. Row 1: D.
