Text from Pages 1 - 112 of the 1974 volume:

DEDICATION Always a compliment. Always a smile. Always a sincere interest in people--from a first-grade girl with a cut finger to an irate teacher with a shattered window. That is Clarence Cap Eadie. Cap began working as a Hanover school custodian in 1972. To list his jobs would fill all 96 pages of this book. He has been truly a jack of all trades. Dedicating the 1974 REVONAH to Cap is our way of saying thanks! DESIDERATA Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly: and listen to others even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life if full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, graceful’ surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confustion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. Over the past twelve years, your teacher friends have helped you with your educational needs. Now upon completion of your secondary edu- cation you will need to make many decisions of your own for the first time. I am confident that these decisions will be wise ones. If over the years you have built dreams, this is fine. Now, make them a reality. It has been a pleasure to have been a part of your education. Congratulations and the best of luck. Mr. Barkdoll Congratulations to the Class of 1974, and also to the students for another good school year. I wish the Seniors nothing but the best in the future. The Seniors will be leaving us shortly to pursue their ambitions. I hope they will always be proud of themselves, their family, community, and Nation. The future is filled with opportun- ities if we take advantage of them. I hope the students who will be with us next year will take advantage of the education provided them by their parents, and prepare themselves for a life of satisfying work and fulfillment.
