Cook, Student Council. SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Fifty-three radiant faces entered Hanover Community School on that day of days in September of 1945. We were divided into two separate classes under Miss Perry and Mrs. Sullivan. We entered the second grade under the guidance of Miss Ischi. Our class had dwindled to forty-five due to the end of war effort. In the back of the room we had a play grocery store where we were taught the fundamentals of arithmetic. Miss Thomas was our third grade teacher. Most of the year was spent learning to write and at the end of the year our class visited the Brookfield Zoo In Chicago. Miss Graves, our fourth grade teacher sponsored our class in a Dutch program, which we put on for Open House. She also taught us the multiplication tables. Our fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Ehredt, taught us the principles of Geography. It was this year we staged an oper- etta for a Christmas program. Mrs. Harksen was our sixth grade teacher. This year we presented a Valentines' play and went to the Palisades for our class picnic. We entered Junior High School with Mrs. Keene as our seventh grade teacher. We were now preparing to enter High School by brushing up on American History, English and Practical Math. This was the year we had our first par- ty in the evening. Our last teacher downstairs was Mrs. Morrison. Our basketball team won for the first time for Hanover Grade School the county championship. On May 29. 1953 our class of twenty-nine students graduated into Hanover High School. Our class advisor for four years has been Mr. Book, to whom we graciously dedicate this yearbook. Most of our money for the Senior trip was earned by selling magazines, having dances, suppers and bakesales, and giving plays. As Freshmen our main activity was a carnival given in cooperation with the Seniors. During our Sophomore year we put on Elmer and had some chili suppers. Our Junior year we staged The Curious Savage, were in charge of the concessions at all home athletic events, and presented our Junior-Senior Prom, On A Tropical Isle. Our Senior year was filled with many exciting events including our play, The Man Who Came To Dinner, our trip to New York and Washington, and graduation. The Homecoming Queen for '56 was Shirley Cook and honorary captain, Leroy Curley. So with all the pleasant memories of our twelve years together we part, each to go his own way in the great wide future that lies ahead.
