HISTORY OF CLASS OF '56 The Mirth and Fun grew fast and furious. A sparkling group of fifty-one students entered grade school in September of '43. Because of the size of the class we were divided into two groups. The first Part of the year we were under Mrs. Hansen and Mrs. Crowley. Later Mrs. Crowley left and Mrs. Hatfield came. By the end of our first year twelve members of the class had moved and Miss Ischi was honored by having us all in her second grade class. Miss Thomas, our third grade teacher, taught us how to write. In fourth grade, under the able direction of Miss Graves, we first developed our talents in poetry. In fifth grade several of our brave students took to band. Mrs. Ehredt was our teacher, she was proud of our group and had a right to be! In sixth grade Mrs. Harkson took over. We developed our own little band and presented a play for our parents: How Boots Befooled the King. Years seemed to fly—We were already in seventh grade and our teacher was Mrs. Keene. Boy, were we big shots now: Just think, Junior High School! Mrs. Morrison prepared us for High School in the eighth grade. We had a big graduation party. At night too! Twenty- nine of us graduated to old H. H. S. on May 28, '52. All four years in H. H. S. have been full and exciting. Our Freshman and Sophomore advisor was Miss Williams. We made most of our money these years from magazine sales, dances, bake sales, and Sophomore Comedy Hour. We Sponsored a prom our Junior year. The theme was: Indian Love Call. We sold refreshments at games and presented our Junior Class play under the direction of Mr. Book. It was The Big Blow-Up. Mr. Walsh was our Junior class advisor. This year has really been a big year. We have Mrs. Morrison as an advisor. She directed our Senior play Meet Me In St. Louis, which was a big success. The Homecoming Queen for '55 was Carolyn Haug and honorary captain, Martin Murphy, both seniors. The other who has been an attendant was Carolyn McKinley. We have been honored by our great athletes and our cheerleaders, Carolyn McKinley and Carolyn Haug. We've had a lot of fun the past twelve years and are looking forward to our senior trip out East. The class has cooperated wonderfully. We face the future with great anxiety and plans for the years to come.
