Sftt SENIOR CLASS HISTORY September of 1949 was a day not to be forgotten for twenty-six green-eyed Freshmen. Let's roll back the years to that time. The class consisted of Jean Heather, Mary Anne Jagielski, Winonna Goodrich, Kay Hazer, Edith Peschang, Hugh Warren, Clifford Vandervate, Nora Ballein, Bonnie Bearsley, Charlane Randecker, Eldora Sweeney, Jack Robinson, Mary Potter, Marilyn Speer, Miriam Leidinger, Barbara Weede, Mary Shafer, Cecil Peschang, Bill Donnan, Roger Hede- man, Herbert Wilson, Albert Noton, Jill Robinson, Leland Curtis, Betty Paisley and Grant Puckett. During the course of the year, we were joined by Virginia Scharf and John Wunderlin, but we had the misfortune of losing Leland Curtis. Mr. Wojan was chosen as our class advisor. The big event of our Freshman year was initiation. The boys had to wear baby diapers and hoods and carry a baby bottle. The girls had to wear thin dresses and men's shoes. This was all topped off with a big party that same night, where I'm sure, everyone had a good time. Time seemed to fly and soon we became Sophomores. New students that year were Peggy Pascoe and Robert Howard, who stayed with us only a short time, Burdette Mercer, Pat Kehl and Marilyn Mielke. However, we lost Hugh Warren and Clifford Vandervate. During the first part of the year, we were very much occupied with the magazine sales. We came out in one of the two top places, and, therefore we did not have to give a party that year for the rest of the student body. Mr. Burns was elected class advisor and remained with us for the remainder ot our high school days. Well, more time has passed and we re now Juniors. One new student joined cur ranks. She was Mary Jane Harker, who later went to Savanna. This was a big year in some ways. We were hosts at the Junior-Senior Prom, the theme of which was the ''Stork Club. We also came out on top at the magazine sales. The end of the year was marked by a picnic at the Mississippi Palisades. The day had finally come when we stepped into Hanover High School as the Mighty Seniors. John Wunderlin came into our class as a new student. We repeated history by coming out on top once more in magazine competition. We were entertained at the Junior-Senior Prom, which was held on May 23rd. The big day occurred in our high school career when we left on our trip to Washington, D C. We departed on May 8th and returned on the 17th. After this, the only two big days remaining for the Seniors were Baccalaureate and Commencement, which v ere held on May 24th and 29th respectively. From there, we embarked on our own separate ways, but we leave this little bit of advice with our fellow students. Make the most of your High School days-they're some of the best years of your lives. 19 5 3
