Let's roll back the years to that time. The class consisted of Jean Heather, Mary Anne Jagielski, Winonna Goodrich, Kay Hazer, Edith Peschang, Hugh Warren, Clifford Vandervate, Nora Ballein, Bonnie Bearsley, Charlane Randecker, Eldora Sweeney, Jack Robinson, Mary Potter, Marilyn Speer, Miriam Leidinger, Barbara Weede, Mary Shafer, Cecil Peschang, Bill Donnan, Roger Hede- man, Herbert Wilson, Albert Noton, Jill Robinson, Leland Curtis, Betty Paisley and Grant Puckett. During the course of the year, we were joined by Virginia Scharf and John Wunderlin, but we had the misfortune of losing Leland Curtis. Mr. Wojan was chosen as our class advisor. The big event of our Freshman year was initiation. The boys had to wear baby diapers and hoods and carry a baby bottle. The girls had to wear thin dresses and men's shoes. This was all topped off with a big party that same night, where I'm sure, everyone had a good time. Time seemed to fly and soon we became Sophomores. New students that year were Peggy Pascoe and Robert Howard, who stayed with us only a short time, Burdette Mercer, Pat Kehl and Marilyn Mielke. However, we lost Hugh Warren and Clifford Vandervate. During the first part of the year, we were very much occupied with the magazine sales. We came out in one of the two top places, and, therefore we did not have to give a party that year for the rest of the student body. Mr. Burns was elected class advisor and remained with us for the remainder ot our high school days. Well, more time has passed and we re now Juniors. One new student joined cur ranks. She was Mary Jane Harker, who later went to Savanna. This was a big year in some ways. We were hosts at the Junior-Senior Prom, the theme of which was the ''Stork Club. We also came out on top at the magazine sales. The end of the year was marked by a picnic at the Mississippi Palisades. The day had finally come when we stepped into Hanover High School as the Mighty Seniors. John Wunderlin came into our class as a new student. We repeated history by coming out on top once more in magazine competition. We were entertained at the Junior-Senior Prom, which was held on May 23rd. The big day occurred in our high school career when we left on our trip to Washington, D C. We departed on May 8th and returned on the 17th. After this, the only two big days remaining for the Seniors were Baccalaureate and Commencement, which v ere held on May 24th and 29th respectively. From there, we embarked on our own separate ways, but we leave this little bit of advice with our fellow students. Make the most of your High School days-they're some of the best years of your lives. 19 5 3 ROGER HEDEAAAN ‘Life is a gift to be used every day.” Vice President 3; Student Council 4; Vice President FTA 3, 4; County Treasurer FTA 3. 4; Revonah 4; Hi-Lites 4; Class Play 3. 4; Band 1; Base- ball 1; Basketball 1. 2, 3, 4; Football 4. The class officers were elected for the busy year: President, Keith Croffoot; Vice-President, Jack White; Secretary-Treasurer, Norma Kaufman; Student Council member, Joan Larson; and Mr. Richard Wojan as the class advisor. On December 4, 1952, we presented our Junior Class play Junior Miss which was directed by Mr. Wojan. This was one of the many times we had a big success, made money, and still had fun. Our class will always be proud of Bruce Butts, Keith Croffoot, Jack White, Larry Cobine and Max Harksen, who played so gallantly on the football team. Last but not least, we must not forget Jimmy Stutzman and Keith Croffoot who played on the basketball team. In order to raise money for our class treasury, we sold refreshments at basketball and football games, had bake sales, candy sales, gave a dance, and gfcve a chili supper which went over with a big bang I Quite a few of the Juniors help to make the Hanover Hi-Lites a successful and enjoyable school paper. The Juniors and Seniors also sponsored a Sports Night which was very exciting and enjoyable. The Juniors are looking forward to Prom Night which is going to be on AAay 23, 1953. The theme will be Harbor Lights. We, the class of 1954, wish the Seniors much happiness and success. 19 5 3 a REVONAH 8 SOPHOMORE CLASS HISTORY AND WHAT DID YOU ENACT? We the Sophomore class of 1952 and 1953 have been an average success this year. We have had a number of bake sales from which we have gained most of our money. We also gave a dance which was not much of a success. We collected $5.80 for the March of Dimes campaign, which went for a worthy cause. We collected quite a bit of money from our magazine sales. We were in third place and very close to second. We have not had many chances to make money so far, but we plan to do better in our Junior year. We entered a float in the homecoming parade, and it was a success. We had fun making it, and the people seemed to like it. A member of ours, Alex Paisley, was picked Honorary Captain for the homecoming, and Jeannie Petitgoue was an attendant to the queen. We are looking forward to our Junior Year. We hope it will be a success as our Sophomore year. FRESHMAN CLASS HISTORY EXPOSING WHAT IS MORTAL AND UNSURE' There are thirty-three students in the freshman class with Miss Williams as class advisor. Their passage overseas was complicated by two ubiquitous safety pockets (large purses worn under their dresses), a cabin full of trunks, a run- in with a stowaway, a severe case of measles, two English girls who used the water facilities of their room, and two handsome medical students whose kisses “engulfed the girls. In Paris they were besieged by exploding gas meters, a French actor anxious to meet Corniela’s father, and bedbugs. The girls realize that this is a supreme moment in their lives, for they are seeing Paris and they are nineteen years old. Ellen Curtis. Judy involves her Uncle Willis into the situation. Willis and Ellen eventually fall in love and are married. Comedy is provided by the endless procession of boy friends who call on Judy’s older sister, Lois, and by the terrible temper of J. B. Curtis, Ellen's father, for whom Judy’s father is employed. The play ends happily as all situations are solved satisfactorily and Judy enters triumphantly as a real “Junior Miss.” CAST OF CHARACTERS Harry Graves Joe ............ Grace Graves Hilda ..........
