1942. BASKETBALL BANaUETS The fans wanted to participate in a basketball ban- quet so, on October 27, fans, teachers, players, and proud parents flocked to the school and enjoyed a grand feed. The third or fourth trips were followed by Mr. Brown's pre- sentation of our nCounty Champn banner of '38 and '4l. nVann gave another of hisinspiring speeches, and, after the players, parents, and coach added their bits, everyone left with the anticipation of a successful season. On March 25 the Basketball boys were again honored with a banquet given them by the parents, teachers and yell leaders. Nr. Van Liew and Dr. Johnson were guest speakers. Mr. Brown also gave a grand speech followed by speeches by the last years' alumni, gave a short speech about his basket- ball year's and the eveninq closed with fun had by all. The Junior High's brilliant with their Hvictoryu banquet at Coach Van Liew from the college must continue their hard work to as champs of Southeastern Indiana D. Gabel, introduced the players, and Coach Brown had thanked the season was made complete the school on March 12. told the team that they uphold their reputation After toastmaster,John who made short speeches, team for their splendid co-operation, Mr. Gabel presented the trophy which the team had won in the tourney. AWARDS Basketball sweaters were awarded this year to Earl Coppess, Glenn williams, Glenn Uebel, Joe Hells, Albert Adams, and to Raymond Duke for two years as student mana- ger. Bill Huber get a star and another chevron, while Clarence Dean, Glen Gray, Arley Kelley, Frederick Yunker, James Selig, Robert Adams, John Selig, Frank Gillespie, Don Gassert, and Junior Brooks received letters.
