j 94 7 -.-W .M ,3, as --.,--a.... -10 Hanoverds Bulldogs journeyed to Central Wednesday, De- cember 5, and came away with a victory that was won in a fast ind furious second quarter. Huber started the game by slipping a one handed shot through the net, From then on Hanover continued on the road to victory. Uebel led the Bulldogs scoring with 12 points. Stevenson was high scorer for the Wildcats. On December 12, the Dupont Red Devils came to Hanover to get a wholesale beating. Uebel opened the scoring by hitting the first two shots he took and Hanover continued to win in the end by a score of 55-18. Uebel was high point man for Hanover making 16, while Hammond made 8 for Dupont. The Charlestown team journeyed to Hanover December 19 to receive quite a set-back when the Bulldogs beat them 26 -25 in a close game from beginning to end. Our Captain, Bill Huber was sick that night but being a Hloyaln captain he played the first half un il Coach Brown took him out. Uebel was again high point man. An outclassed Hanover team received a sound thrashing from the Minutemen from Lexington on Jan. 2, as they were defeated 57-26. The Bulldogs outscored the Minutementin the 5rd quarter but to no avail since the tall Lexington team started rolling in the last quarter and the game ended 56-26, Lexington. ' A Traveling 45 miles to Jackson Township,Decatur County, the Bulldogs were defeated in a better game than the score indicates. The score was tied at the half 14-14. Emly started the fireworks with 5 clean field goals and Evans hit another to give Jackson an B-O lead. As he was coming down from the basket Gillespie, Hanover's capable center, sprained his ankle and was sidelined the rest of the game. The third quarter was about the best quarter in the game when the teams matched score for score up to the last min- ute when Emly made a field goal to set Jackson ahead 25-21. The Central Wildcats journeyed to Hanover Jan. 21 to go home with a 55-25 victory. The game started in a slam- bang fashion that characterizes all Hanover-Central games. Central was ahead 14-10 at the end of the first quarter. The Wildcats made 4 shots to Hanover's one in the second quarter. '5 94 2 BASKETBALL At 8:OO Saturday, November l, Hanover opened their basketball seasons Led by Arley Kelly,one of the Bulldogs subs, Hanover defeated the Saluda Lions by a score of 58h 10. Hanover took the lead in the first quarter and held- it throumhout the rest of the game. Arley Kelly led the scoring for Hanover while Stucker led for Seluda. The New Washington Mustangs defeated the slow starting Bulldovs, the night of November 7, at the New Washington gym,by the score of 19-17 in e double overtime. The Bull- dogs couldn't seem to set started in the first half but they soon caught up in the second. In the 4th quarter it was nip-and-tuck with first one team scoring and then the other. But in the second overtime period Jackson sent a seemingly impossible shot through the basket to give them the name. An experienced North Madison tesm beat the herd fight- ing Bulldog squad 27-22 on November 14, at the Hanover gym. The Bulldogs put up e swell fight but it was not quite good enough. Mason was high point msn for North Madison with 15 while Hanovtr's scoring was evenly divided between Huber Wells and Uebel. On November 19, -the Lexington Minutemen defeated the Bulldogs 44-24 on the Bulldog's own floor. The Bu11doQ's stdrtod the scoring but the Loxinfton team soon tied the score 6-6 st the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter Lexington sturtcd to roll and scored 17 points. Hanover tried n comeback in the last quarter but the visi- tors mode score for score with the Bulldogs so the game ended 44-24. K Despite e shdkeup in the Bulldoqs lineup, the Austin Eagles won fairly easily Wednesday night, November 26, in n bell same pldyod on the Bul1dog's floor by o score of 27 -10. The next two quarters were both nwfshoutsn since neither team mode over one score but in the last quarter the Eurles started to score and made 12 points to Hnnovrr's 5. On February 6,the New Washington nMustangsH j to Hanover to win over the Bulldogs 25-24 in a thr game. The Bulldogs matched quarter when Adams made a free throw. Adams fouled and the game ended 25-24 for New Washington. In a fast last three minutes the North Madison Tigers beat the Hanover Bulldogs 56-26. The score was nip and tuck the first three quarters with each team scoring free- ly. At the end of the first quarter the score was B-7 Han over. The half ended 15-ll Hanover but the third quarter was a bit different since the score was 21-17 North Town. The Bulldogs came back with a bang in the third quarter and as the clock rolled to a 5 minutes the score was tied 26-26 but then North Madison started hitting and made lO scores in the last 3 minutes to cnd the game 56-26. Even though they were behind when they went in the Hanover second team beat Saluda's first team 28-17. Han- over led at the first quarter 6-5 and at the half ll-7, Srluda ste Here Coach pped in in the 3rd quarter with a lead of 13-12. Brown substituted for his entire first five, Kelley, Adams, Jr. Brooks, John Selig, and Gassort.
