U5 ' 1 Lavenia McClure was chosen from among the Senior girls to represent Hanover in the county D. A. R. Citizen- ship Contest. Nancy Hyatt won first place in the county division of the essay contest on the USS Indiana Battle- Ship. Kaymond Duke was again the student basketball manager. Glen Gray and Clarence Dean played on the second team. Albert Adams received a sweater this year. Bill Huber was captain of the team. Wilma Lowry was the Spotlight editor and Loris Wil- liams was one of the cheer leaders. Bill Huber had the honor of being the senior with the highest scholastic re- cord for his high school years. Our Class play, nBilly's Goat,N was a hilarious come- dy. G -1 94 v , , .-.-- as-I III We returned to school in 1940 as Jolly Juniors. This year we lost another of our classmates. Inez Gassert moved to Central. We also gained a new student, Mary Lou Storie, whose home was in the proving ground. This year Loris Williams was a cheer leader. Bill - Huber and Grover Lowe received sweaters for playing on the .first team. Albert received a let er and Glen Gray play- ed on the Second team. Raymond Duke was the student manager of thc team. Wilma Lowry won second place in the county typing con test. Bill Huber agreed to substitute for a member of the senior play cast the day of its presentation. He did a swell job, too. Grover Lowe won second place in the Dis- trict Latin Contest and went to the State Contest. We took the senior class to Louisville for the Junior Senior Prom. Everyone enjoyed the trip. Our passports to the dining room were very funny, but some of the pictures taken of us in grade school were quite embarrassing. Our class play, nBig Brothern, was a great success. The cast was as follows: Mrs. Crewe. . . . . . . Vera Gassert John Crewe. . . .her son. . . .Grover Lowe Lyle Crewe. . . . ...her son. . . . . . . IV Twenty five dignified seniors returned to Hanover in the fall of 1941. During the first semester Della Tull was married and Verna Jones moved to Madison. Laverne Long was married at the beginning of the second semester and Clarence Dean entered our class. Only twenty-three seniors now remained to continue their school work. M E L A NG E'

Loris Williams wills her ability to yell to Lavern Tingle. More cheer for the Bulldogs. Raymond Lee Duke wills his well-trained hair to Frank Guthrie. Be sure that the National Defense isn't asking for brillantine, Frankie. Edwina Owen wills all of her boy-friends to Mary Jane Tilley. Be sure your date book has at least SOO lines in it, Mary Jane. Glenn Gray and Clarence Dean will their ability to gossip about the girls to Arley Kelley and Billy Cook, We really feel sorry for the girls, Charles Hensler wills his love for the opposite sex to David Hudson. Slow up a little, Hudson. Vera Gassert wills her uSunday Night Heart Throbsn to Joan Whitsett. ' You'll really have to get acquainted with North Madison, Joan. ' Ruth Ann Bovard wills her extra height to Carroll Gray. My what a change there will be in Carroll. Nancy Hyatt wills her ability to make wise cracks to Katherine Wickwire. May Heaven help her. Viola Handlon wills her quiet disposition to Marjorie Ruth Grimm. Shhhhhhhhi Not a sound, Marjorie Ruth, Bill Huber leaves his love for Jane Parker to someone who will faithfully promise to love and protect her for him. Ethel Mary Black wills her love for Latin to Woodie Qopgland. We are sure you are on the road to success, woo Ca , Harriett Thompson wills her natural wavy hair to Frieda Dicus. The result will probably be kinks. Grover Lowe wills his beautiful brown eyes to Dody A Williams that he may be better qualified to wow the girls. M E L A NG Es ll
