BASKETBALL The Hanover Bulldogs opened their 1940-41 season with a 22-19 victory over our nearest rival, the Salu- da Lions. The Lions led the Bulldogs up until the third quarter when Tull and Uebel sank field goals to tie the count at 15-15. The Bulldogs forged ahead in the last few minutes of the game to win. Tull of Hanover and Lawson of Saluda were high scorers of the game with 14 and 9 points respectively. In the second game of the season the Hanover Bull- dogs were defeated by the New Washington Mustangs 52-51. Hanover was overcome in the last five seconds of play after leading the entire game. High scorers of the game were Tull of Hanover with 19 and Kemp of New Washington with 14. The Hanover Bulldogs were invaded by the Lexington Minutemen who took with them a 34elB victory. After a hard battle the Bulldogs were unable to overcome the Minute men. The high scorer of the game was Perkinson of Lexington with nine. The Bulldogs stepped back into the win column by defeating a hard fighting Henryville crow. The game was fast and rough. LaGrange, Hanover's center and rebound man was high point man for the Bulldogs with 7, while Warren of Henryville was high scorer for the Hornets The Bulldogs continued the winning by defeating the Dupont Red Devils 27-21. This was the first time the Bulldogs had beaten the Red Devils in their new gym Tull, Bulldog forward, captured scoring honors of ther game by collecting 12. The Bulldogs fell back again after losing to the Central Wildcats 2B-27. The game was held at the Cen- tral gym. The first half was close and thrilling. Both teams playing a good defensive game. The half ended with Hanover ahead 5-4. Ucbel started the second half with a field goal. After the score see-sawed back and forth the Wildcats came through to win for Central. The one point luck nit the Bulldogs in this game and they lost to a smooth working team from Deputy 58- 59. This was one of the best played games of the sea- son. The scoring was contributed mainly by four play- ers, Tull and LaGrange of Hanover and Spicer and Owens of Deputy. These four boys scored 59 of the 77 points N 51 .9 -in
