We have fought the fight together, We have struggled side by side, Broken is the bond that held us-- We must difficulties o'erride. ' ' SENIOR POEM CFrom I.Tz1cbeth J Is this a diploma which I see before me, Its ribbon toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not, and yet I know I will. Art thou not, lovely vision, sent to me To be mine own commoncemfwh night? Or wrt thou but Thrt ideal of my mind, that fair creation, .Long-chcrished'in my study-blessed brain? I soo thee now, in form as desirable As that I dreamed I saw. Thou leadest me the way that I was going, And promised such a reward I was to win. ' Mine eyes have seen thee oft in all my dreams, A prize worth all the restg I see thee now, And with thot, bits of ribbon tied in bows, Fsirer than hoped before. This is the thing For which I studied all that would inform ' And train mine eyes. Now, with my happy class, ' The race is won, and all our dreams, long-sought, Are ours to keep. As we celebrate Our glorious victory, wc would here and now Thank every teacher, every friend, who helped, By patient wetch, to hold our steady pace, And guide our rambling strides toward the design ' We longed for most.' Now, sure rnd firmfset earth, Watch all our stefs, which way they walk and hear The very stones talk of our whereubout, And take thc present honor of the time For future promise. Classmates, may we live That words to deeds their noblest spur may give. We go, our school work done. The world invites us. Hear it, my classmates, for it is a bell That summons us to action. Now, farewell! HY , YYY, A Y......9.WY,.f: :Y V Y Wynn

Here are a few of themg some are amusing, others--quite serious. When we were eighth graders and Mr. Weir sponsored our class, do you remember the Hunters Stew we ate on one of our picnics, not forgetting the ride in Ferg- uson's truck and our hair blowing wildly? You haven't forgotten, have you, some of the ncrush esu of olden days? For instance: Peggy Kleopfer and Lee Douglas, Norma Pender and Kenneth Tull, Bonnie Ferg uson and Marvin Thurman Cetc.J, Anne Parker and Boone LaGrange, Anna Jo Kelley and Irvin Long and many, many others. Oh yes, I musn't fail to mention Lottie Wood's ardent admiration for Mr. CPidJ LaGrange. Do you remember when Jeanette Scott, one of our worthy classmates, became seriously ill and everyone was so concerned about her? Those of you who attended the County Tourney of'38 at Central, shall never forget, I'm sure, the feeling of joy andahappiness after the boys won the County Tourney County Champs of l958l!! You haven't forgotten all of your old practice teachers, have you? Remember Prather, Horton, Ebersole Cwho had to put her tongue in her cheek to keep from laughing at our absurdityl, Allison and Turner? And what about Grace Clark's birthday party, where we almost made a ditch around the house--playing nspin the milk bottle?n hasn't that fun? How many of you could sit down. and tell the tale of HThe Travels of Bonnie Ferguson's Ringn? Oh, that would be hard, wouldn't it? l'll never forget when we played hide-go seek at Clifty Park on a Freshman picnic. It was pitch dark-- Nall the more exciting,U says I. It was really quite a treat to see all the girls decked out in spring hats and the fellows with ties on Cfor oncel on the morning of our Junior-Senior trip,'4O And last, but far, far from least, is the memorycf our victory in the County Tourney l94l. Yes, we won again--County Champs of l94lL21 I 0 Pffi .9 4 'if' 1
