MELANGE CLASS HISTORY OF 1941 By Anna Jo Kelley - Chapter I New that we have reached another milestone of life and the time has come when we will leave our Alma Mater as students, our sentiments turn back to the time when we first entered H. H. S. Slowly we visualize the dif- ferent scenes and events as they occurred during our high school days. Just four years ago, September l957, a group of twenty eight students enrolled in Hanover High School, thus beginning their high school career. his group consisted of Leslie Aldridge, Grace Clark, Neva Dicus, Bonnie Ferguson, Carl Gassert, Anna Jo Kelley, Peggy Kleopfer Boone LaGrange, Gayle Manaugh, Jane Matthews, Billy Miles, Anne Parker, Norma Pender, Robert Howlett, Jeanette Scott, Kenneth Tull, Dorothy Van Liew, Kendall Walker, Lottie hood, and Mary Mires from Hanoverg Marj- orie Comingore, and Helen Nay from Kentg Anna Hoskins, William Perkinson, and Marvin Thurman, from Pleasant Pointg Elizabeth Williams from Saludag and James Burn- ham from Madison, Indiana. Marvin Thurman, a popular boy, was chosen to act as president during our Freshman year in school. Mrs. May was our class sponsor. During the year we had sev- eral exciting trips in our biology class. Most of the Freshmen ,were found in different clubs and organiza- tions of the school. Boone LaGrange and Kenneth Tull represented our class on the basketball team, and Anne Parker was one of the yell leaders. Chapter II September, l938, found the former Freshmen enroll- ed as Sophomores. Stella Burdine joined our class at the beginning of the semester and to our sorrow we lost several of our classmates. Anne Parker left us and went to a private girls' school at Shelbyville, Ken- tuekyg Anna Hoskins moved to Austing Helen Nay moved to Deputy, Jeanette Scott moved to Brooksburgg and Eliza- beth williams, Mary Mires, William Perkinson and James Burnham, all quit school. At the first class meeting of this year the offi- cers were elected as follewsg Kendall Walker, president Gayle Manaugh, vice presidentg Norma Pender, secretary and treasurerg and Mr. Millican, class sponsor. Kenneth Tull, Boone LaGrange, and Gayle Manaugh were basketball s ars, 0 9 ll d94l
