45' ' ul , Her X3 v TOP HAT Miss Gwen Shirley '55 was crowned with a rhine- ' stone tiara by President Leo Estes as Princess of the 1955 Junior Prom on May 8, 1954. Gwen was chosen by the 'Black Panthers orches- tra from a long line of junior candidates to rule on her throne of pmk and whrte carnauons in a night club atmosphere A garnt sized top hat cane and whrte gloves stood in one corner of the auditouum while minia ture tinsel hats and cocktarl glasses and gaint bal loons reflected the revolvlng multi colored ltghts 6 . LV,, Q T, I sjgijfi ' Q - s U '55 FANTASY ' On February 14, 1953, the sophomore class of 1955 held its first dance entitled 55 Fantasy . Saint Valentine inspired the decorators and the gymnasium walls were adorned with red hearts and white class numerals, while in the center'of the floor stood a silver giant-sized valentine. Midway through the evening the boys of the sophomore class chose Garde Davison '53, es- corted by Chip Wright, to reign as 'Queen of Hearts .
