Temperatures dropped below -20 many days. Then the snow came. It snowed day and night. It drifted higher and higher. Then the sacred event happened; school was called off. Eight whole days off. Just because three-foot snow drifts covered a lot of roads and temperatures were so cold that you couldn ' t go outside for more than fifteen minutes without freezing. Other factors, like the gas companies running out of fuel to heat the build- ings, helped keep us out too. Every morning you would wake up, and listen to the radio only to find out that you could have slept for another hour or two. Days were being called off right and left. But finally, after three weeks, it came to an end, as all good things must. Even though there was still snow piled high and it was still pretty cold, we had to come back to school. But a lot of people were glad to come back, after all; you can get to miss the old school after a while can ' t you? Kathy Backe freezes while waiting to go home. 102 in area history David Bougie tries out the ' grave ' dug for Mr. Roller by his team. Drifting snow covers lower portion of the golf course sign. Varsity basketball players dug Mr. Roller ' s grave during practice. 103 Mr. Brindley, you really should im- prove your table manners. Working together Juniors During the Spirit week the Junior Class worked together to decorate their hall and float for the parade. Their efforts paid off, as their hall theme, Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Victory, and their float theme, Stomp-Em, won them first place. Along with these festivities, the junior girls won the powder puff football game. Mr. John Brindley, history teacher, served as their coach. The class is working together to raise money for the prom. They raised $1,000 in sales of candy. Jenny Casten and Andrea Schreiber were the high- est in sales. The movie, which they sponsored on Dec. 20, Shakiest Gun in the West also gave a net profit to- ward the prom. The prom, Nights Are Forever Without You, was held at the House of Lynwood.
