She finally marries the man whom she should have been married to in the first place (by the way, he’s in prison). The man and woman have a little girl. Only af- ter a long ordeal, everybody lives happily ever after. One of the cast members made this statement about the play: I think it was a little strange for the high school kids to like. I really enjoyed doing it because it was a new experience for me. Though you can’t have everything the same or else hardly anvone would like it.” The cast consisted of: Jim Wislocki, Rose Wood, Sharon Zahora, Step- hanie Wood, Sherri Underwood, Nancy Sack, Marianne Sack, Nanc Rhein, and Twila Marsh. T. R. What will poor little Nell do now? (Nanc Rhein) M. M. Hero (Jim Wislocki) falls into the clutches of the evil man-get- ter! (Nancy Sack) Will our poor hero (Jim Wislocki) and his trusty friend (Sherri Under- wood) be saved? Or will the nasty villain (Rose Wood) have his way! BULL IN A CHINA SHOP | ■ w [ 1 w jMP it || 11 J. . 1 IH™ ' .1 The play was about six elderly ladies, and a hand- some detective. The ladies decided the only way to get this man to give them any attention, would be to start killing each other. One of the cast members had this to say about the play: The play was fun, sometimes confusing. It was special because it was the first play performed in the new auditorium, and because of the people involved. There were a few doubts, but in spite of those doubts, the show went on.! And I’m glad I was there.” The cast consisted of: Rose and Stephanie Wood, Nancy Sack, Sha- ron Zahora, Sherri Underwood, Nanc Rhein, Kathy Clement, George Brewer, Bill McKee, Pat Darnell, Ron Miller, and Malcom Jones. Rose Wood and Nancy Sack tell Sherri Underwood not to do that, in their own polite (?) way. T. R. Mr. Rajchel, directs the play from the floor. B. Malcom Jones, Ron Miller, Stephanie Wood, and Nancy Sack have a nice little chat. 17 Ms. McMillen and Annie Rose talking it over. It’s a high reach to get to the top. Come on Rich Fisher, don’t do that here.” Backside view of the new school. Here lies the foundation of Hanover’s students. A new look at Hanover, to be proud of. Nick Mager has been be-headed by Robin Holeman. Barb Kazwell and Amy Miller look surprised. A classroom view of the new middle school. Hands and knees border the subject. Mr. Granger, you are so handsome!” Making a basket from the front of the board is sometimes as hard as making it from the back. Sue Stark and Don O’Masta show us how Basketball should be played, (co-ed) New library makes studying pleasant. Renee Trueblood is ready to go. The diaper pins might come in handy for Cheryl Baker some day. Don O’Masta looks the beauties over. Mr. Schatzman and Mike Pasierb get excited at the wrestling match. The new building was under construction. M Cheryl Baker waiting for class to start. Wait, let me comb my hair first!” says Dawn O’Masta. Joe Milburn and Sue Stark look just great together. Mr. Whitestine, You’re such a ham!” Bus drivers wait patiently for the bell to ring. Teachers at Hanover ex- perienced many new hap- penings. During the 73-74 school year, teachers and students began relating more to one another. More participation resulted in the classrooms. A team cannot play up to their potential without enthusiasm from fans, which was proven even more when the Cats got a 2-15 seasonal record. Coach Sparacino had this to say, Our team was not all that bad they played as a team, having no big guns. One thing I was really put out with was the fans. There is an old saying that goes, If the fans are toe quiet at a basketball game, you ca ' hear a ball bounce. At Hanover, ycj can hear the boys breathing.” Top Left: Coach Sparacino; P. The boys, prac- ticing almost every night, came up with the sparks Hanover needed. The boys had a 3-15 sea- son, losing 6 games by a total of only 15 points. If Lady Luck” could have been with the boys this year, they could easily have been 9-9. But that was a big If” and unfortunately it didn’t happen. The coach of the 8th grade team is Mr. Mike Shuler. This is Mr. Shuler’s first year at Hanover with the boys giving him the re- spect which he deserves from the players. Good participation from the fans helped the boys considerably. If team records for a team were based on hustle, the desire to win, and enthusiasm, the 7th grade Wildcats would have ended the season 18-0, with the desire to win no matter how far behind or ahead they were. The team-leading players were Wes Pemperton and Joe Stark, the two Cat playmakers. At cen- ter is Steve Seils, the leading re- bounder, and top scorer on the team. Holding up the front line were Dan Korthauer and Dan Mantel, 2 hustlers from the word Go”. Coach Phil Apple commented on his team, I’d say being only 7th graders, they were always hustling through the entire sea- son. With a lot of practice and dis- cipline these boys should be exceptional.” 113 Cheerleaders, Charge Up Season To meet the qualifications of a Cheerleader,” a girl must be courte- ous, spiritful, and constantly striv- ing for victory. The 7th and 8th grade cheerleaders did just that, and even more, they made the game more enjoyable to attend. Cheer- leaders for thi s year had to do some- thing that is very hard to do— cheer and try to make spirit even when their team is being blown off the court. The cheerleaders for this year were wisely chosen. The girls met all the qualifications and more. Promoting even more spirit were the Powder Puff cheerleaders. The hairy chinned boys contributed to make the game a huge success. The game was played on the coldest day possible there is in history (No- vember 10, 1974). The cheering boys found out that cheerleading wasn’t all that easy. To be able to succeed in wrestling, a team must consist of three things: experience, teamwork, and dis- cipline. Unfortunately, we lacked in one of these departments-experi- ence. Our team consists of 5 fresh- men, 5 sophomores, 3 juniors, and 2 seniors; a considerably young team. Steve Plant once said this about wrestling, The first year you learn the moves, the second year you do the moves, and the third year you win.” The coach of Varsity Wrestling is Mr. Tom Schatzman, a small, but very r powerful young man. Before coming to Hanover Central, he was a coach at Winchester High for two years. J.V. coach for Hanover wres- tling is Mr. Jim Kiechle. He had five years experience as a coach of wres- tling for Hanover. With a year’s experience behind our young team, next year they will have had the knowledge of the sport that is needed to wrestle. If the old saying, Experience is the best teacher,” is true, our team should be much better next year. Darrel Scent is always ” on top! Marine. 122 CATS RUN TO VICTORY To have a really tough track team you need three things, 1) experience, 2) strength, 3) speed. Unfortu- nately we lacked in just one of these departments, expe- rience. Our team consisted of mostly freshmen and soph- omores, 3 juniors, and 1 se- nior. To prove the true po- tential of the team, they won the P.C.C. freshmen, sophomore tournament. Coach Shuler had this to say about the team, We are very young and rusty, we will have to have more drive in the boys if we are to suc- ceed in our goals.” Standing L-R, M. Callison, C. Jubera, D. Dodge, T. O’Connor, L. Frazee, R. Holeman, M. Malowski, J. Yothment, M. Gross, D. Dodge, Mr. Shuler. Kneeling, A. Gold, D. Dodge, K. McKinley, R. Jubera, J. Endris. JR. HIGH TRACK HAS DRIVE Back Row L-R, M. Perrin, D. Cohen, T. Imboden, H. McMillan, G. Tortorici, M. Thornbjorson, Mr. Sills. Middle Row, L. Hoeckelburg, V. Ploetz, K. Stout, C. Jonason, T. Scent, D. Krebs, M. O ' Dea, B. Van Der Pol, M. Cochran, D. Gurgle, B. Green, D. Dodge. The junior high track team had something that very few other teams have, drive. Many meets were won by that little extra drive that the boys gave out. The boys consistently broke or tied records, some which were very impressive. The boys were tough in all the events, especially the dashes and field events. The coach of the team is Mr. Sills. With his knowledge of the sport and the team’s determina- tion, the boys turned out an impressive season. Some of the boys came out for their first year of track, and proved that track can be fun and also very demand- ing. If these boys can keep it up in track, Hanover will have a tough track team. 123 WILDCATS ARE UP TO PAR Standing L-R, Coach Brinley, J. Yahlonowski , B. McKee, C. Avey, J. Hollar, R. Trivett.
