Rod Bruenger, a 6'1 guard from West Point, Ill., and Mark Buffington, 5'10 guard from Jefferson City, Mo., also joined the team as freshman, in which they showed great basketball ability. At this point they had won 8 out of their last 10 ballgames, including the Championship of the Black Hawk Classic in Kewanee, Ill. The 1978-'79 Trojans were an exciting ballclub to watch as they became stronger competitors as the year progressed. They were a dedicated and hard working team. Coach Don E.
