Only a meager few could measure up to such a description. Miss Florence Groves is one of these few. She takes an interest in everything that goes on around the campus. She maintains her same cheerful disposition whether teaching an English class or boosting the team at a basketball game. No matter what job is given to her, she cheerfully and tirelessly carries it out. She takes the responsibility of seeing to it that the l-lalagra comes out each week. Every Thursday before broadcast time, she willingly helps the newscasters with their copies of the news. These often unseen things help to make HLG what it is. Miss Groves' interests aren't limited to secular activities alone. She plays a very important part in her church. She is a very wonderful and dependable person. The fact that she has so many duties, doesn't mean that she shirks one to complete the othery each job is done with equal efficiency. Miss Groves is a wonderful example for us to follow. IEFFRIESi- if Heaven is not gained at a single bound: But we build the ladder by which we rise From the lowly earth to the vaulted skies, And we mount to its summit round by round. --Holland Mr. Iohn Ieffries, for many years the editor of the Hannibal Courier Post, was born in Monroe City but spent most of his life in Hannibal, where he had many friends. He was a man of more than ordinary ability, and was one of Hannibal's :nost public-spirited citizens, but was almost too modest for his own advancement. He was a member of several organizations including the Chamber of Commerce and ine Board of Trustees of Hannibal-LaGrange College, and at one time or another he served as president of each of them. Few men in our city were more widely known than lie, and perhaps no other Hannibal citizen had a wider circle of friends than he had. He will be long reznexnbered as one of Hannibal's finest citizens, and his good influence on the Hannibal community will continue through many future years.
