Mrs. Gandis received a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Music Education from ln- diana University, and has been teaching at Hanna for six years. The chorus was involved in many concerts throughout the year. These included five performances during the Christmas season, a concert with the county chorus and a spring concert in April. Fee The Rhythm The 1986-87 T.L. Hanna March- ing Band has completed its most successful year to date. The band competed in two regional marching festivals including the Southem States Marching Band Festival and the South Carolina State Fair Marching Band Invitational. The band won high honors in each of these competitions. Band director Richard Baskin was very pleased with the season. The band entertained at each of the football games, braving heavy rains and freezing weather to per- fect their performance. The band was aided at these games by the hard-working Band-Aids. This orga- nization of band parents provided refreshments for band members at each game. They also accompa- nied the band at each of their com- petitions, providing the moral sup- port that was needed. The Band- Aids were also there when the band undertook its annual fund-raising program. The band sold fruit to raise money for its extra expenses and its spring trip. This year the band traveled to New Orleans to join in the Mardi Gras celebrationy February 28-March 5. While there the band marched in an eight mile l parade through the streets of the' beautiful city. The band members also enjoyed some free time to see the sights of New Orleans, a city known for its history, a major part of which is steeped in the city's jazz roots. This was undoubtedly an area of interest for a group that has its common bond in music. T.L. Hanna 1986-87 Marching Band 88!Organizations
