Naval Science Administered by the Navy, all Naval Science courses emphasize character and leadership development, military drill, commands and ceremonies. Uniforms and other materials needed are provided free of charge. Colorguard, drill team, rifle team training and military indoctrination visits to naval ships, bases, etc., and athletic field days are available and provided to all classes. Naval Science classes, in order of precedence, include the studies of: NSI: Naval history, navigation, maritime geography, basic naval organization and management. NSSII: Oceanography, naval operations and communications, in- telligence and national security, ship construction and damage con- trol, chemical warfare, naval career planning. NSlll: Sea power and geopolitics: meteorology and weather, as- tronomy, electricity, and naval electronics, seamanship and ship- board indoctrination, survival training. NSIV: Military justice, international law and the sea, national strat- egy and tactics, naval weapons, naval and maritime logistics, naval research and development.

Library Assistants Pep Club To start the 1986-87 school The Library Assistants were Rita Crane, Brenda Veach, Lisa Edmonds, Emily Ann Busby. Second Row: Wanda Mclntosh, Milton Thompson, Carolyn Davenport, Beth Wigger, and Rusty Gentry. year former basketball cheer- leading sponsor, Mrs. Nancy Poore, introduced those stu- dents interested, to the Pep Club. The main purpose of this club was to get the stu- dents involved, and to support the athletes. Members sold balloons at the first of the season for one of the home football games and sponsored two dances featuring the Jon Latimus band. The Pep Club was also responsible for Spirit Week, which was initiated by Presi- dent Suzanne Jones. Organizat1onsl8.5
