Coach Herb Phillips was very proud of his J.V Cnrls A Basketball Team. They easily defeated most of the teams played. They worked well together and proved I promising for the years to come. Basketball Team: Front Row - Shajuan Miles, Jennifer Bun'is, Angie Hardvill, Denise Shafer, Robin Stone, Amanda Hughes: Second Row - Cathy Potts, Kim Chamblee, Vanessa Paul, Amy Thompson, Shirley Lee, Nicole Clinkscales, Almastine Johnson, Julie Seawell, Coach Herb Phillips. Sports! 61 Saying the Lady Jackets had a young team would have been a good excuse: however, no excuses were needed for the 1986-87 season. The team showed they had the talent to compete with the older teams Alicia Heal was the only senior, while there were only 4 Ju niors, 6 sophomores, and 5 freshmen. The Lady Jack ets were far from being inexperienced, 2 ofthe 5 starters of last year's team were back again this year Nikki Payton and Ashley Jenkins. Katie Douglass was also a starter but missed the season because of illness Many team members fought long battles with sickness and injury, but were always ready to play hard to win for the
