Qs its , Sis r The 1986 Cross Country Team: Front Row - Drew Cheek, Neil Weber, Mark Morine, Keith Covington. Second Row - Johnny Fowler, Carl McCoy, Matt Fath, Kevin. 1986 was a very successful year for the boys' track team. They fin- ished with eleven wins and three loses. They won the Anderson County meet and also the AAA Re- gion meet. They placed second in the Upper State meet and fourth in the State. After a long season of practice and hard work, awards were given to the boys who excelled in their events. Most Valuable was given to Anthony Galloway: Best Runner was awarded to Tyrone Rainey, Most Improved went to Brian Rainey, Best Distance was given to Karl Gaines and Best Field Event to Carl Hartley. These boys also re- ceived awards for scoring more than 100 points in a season. The Cross Country team recent- ly finished their season. The team placed first in the conference. The All-Conference runners were Se- niors Kevin Bell, Matt Fath, Carl McCoy, and Sophomore Tripp Ca- ton. The team also placed third in the State. Matt Fath was an All- State runner and finished 115th overall . Soccer Changes Seasons There were some definite changes made this year with the soccer team but as usual the team s ability was not altered by the changes Soccer became a spnng sport for the first time in 86 therefore it began two months later than usual extremely hard by participating in aerobics many times to increase the strength in their legs and to condition themselves The hard work and long practice hours proved to be the secret ingredients of a successful team Total team commitment led the Jackets through a winning season ! . .
