WASHINGTON D.C. TRIP October 26 was a very special day for four Hanna Seniors: Dave Jones, June Drader, Lou Ann Rosen- baum, and Carol Shei, At 6:45 P. M. they along with other County Seniors, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Chase, and Mr. and Mrs. John Dunk boarded the Baltimore and Ohio Streamliner, The Columbian from Wellsboro. This trip was earned by selling Herald-Argus subscrip- tions. After an all night trip aboard the train, enjoying both supper and breakfast, they arrived in Washington, D. C. the following morning. Places of interest which they saw during their trip were: The Capitol, Washington Monument, White House Lincoln Memorial. Bureau of Imprinting and Engraving, and Smithsonian Institute. Mount Vernon, Arlington Cemetery, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Memorial Amphitheater. Lee Mansion, House of Burgesses. Jamestown and York- town, were also visited. A two night stay on The Old-Bay Line Steamer was also enjoyed during the trip. At approximately 6:00 Saturday Evening, they boarded The Columbian for the journey home. After eating supper, they enjoyed another sleepless night. They arrived at Wellsboro Sunday morning at 6:44, sleepy and worn out, but glad that they went. 35

JUNIOR AND SENIORS TAKE TRIP At 12 noon. April 2«. 2U junior and senior students accompanied by Mrs. Ralph Jones, Mrs. Harold Lawrence, Mrs. Mildred Milton, Mr. Robb and Mr. St Mrs. Wilson began a 12-day trip touring the south- western states. The group made their first overnight stop at Natchez, Mississippi, April 29, at the Hotel Eola. April 30, they arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana and spent 2 days and 2 nights exploring the city. From New Orleans the group traveled to Houston. Texas where the highlight of their stay was the swim- ming pool at the Plaza Courts Motel. Traveling once again, the group went to San Antonio, Texas and spent the night at the Blue Bonnet Hotel. Mexico, where the group intended to purchase their souvenirs, was toured May 4th. In the evening, they returned to San Antonio to spend the night. Everyone looked forward to his stay at the Mayan Dude Ranch near San Antonio. The 3 days and 3 nights there were spent swimming, riding horses, dancing, and attending a near-by rodeo. 37
