MatrI Mulloy 5 Krcnj Pulvrr Senior Class History Four years ago, on September 6, seventeen green Freshmen entered high school. These seventeen were: Howard Boniface, Herbert Egolf, Junior Froh, Bernard Garbison, Harold Hewlett, William Hunsley. Myrna Kauchak. Pauline Masterson, Richard Myers, Elaine Sacks, Verna Jean Schmidt. William Selby. Doris Schell, James Schell, Shirley Sims. Beverly Wallace, and John Yeoman. Our sponsor was Mr. Paul Brammell. We had our initiation from September 18 to thr 20th, and the evening of the last day the Seniors gave us a party in the old gym where we played games, danced, had refreshments and had a wonderful time. To earn money for our treasury, we sold ice cream bars and hot Hogs at the home basketball games. Summer vacation had passed and we were Sophomores, but we were only thirteen in number now. James and Doris Schell had moved to LaPorte. Bernard Garbison and Shirley Sims dropped out during the summer. Our sponsor was again Mr. Brammell. We sold randy bars at the basketball games to earn money for our class fund. Our Junior year began and soon Carolyn Goldsbcrry joined us. She moved here from LaPorte. That made our class total to fifteen members, later on in the year we had three students withdraw. They were Dirk Myers. Beverly Wallace, and Bill Selby. On December 23, 1952, we had our first high school dance. It was after the championship game of the Holiday Tourney. We sold popcorn during this year at the basketball games to make the money for our class. In the latter part of November the Seniors gave us a party after we had defeated them in the magazine sales contest. On February 13. we sponsored a Valentine’s Dance after our last basketball game of the season. May 16, we gave our farewell party to the Seniors, the Junior and Senior Prom Our Senior year began with eleven members in our class. These eleven mem- bers were: Howard Boniface, Herbert Egolf. Junior Froh, Harold Hewlett. William Hunsley, Carolyn Goldsbcrry, Myrna Kauchak, Pauline Masterson, Elaine Sacks, Verna Jean Schmidt, and John Yeoman. On the day of September 11, our day came for initiating the Freshman class. On that day we had quite a few weird people running about the school. These were the Freshmen dressed in quite an array of clothing. That evening we gave them a party in the old gym to welcome them into high school. On October 20. 1953. seven of the eleven members of our class went on the trip to Washington, D. C.. which was sponsored by the LaPorte Herald-Argus. During the last part of November we gave a skating party to the Junior class after they had defeated us in the magazine sales contest. We sponsored the dance after the Grade School Tourney and the dance after our last home basketball game. Mr. Harlan Seigcsmund was our class sponsor during our Senior year. We sold pop at the basketball games. Our next look on school is our Senior trip and then our diplomas, we hope! From then on, we are on our own. (Myrn) Girls State in 1953.
