HSS LIS O Silh Shadows of true performance It has been said before that fame costs. This year's Silhouettes paid that price and found the rewards to be worth the sweat and tears. Sponsored by Rosemary Navarro, Sil- houettes demonstrated different forms of dance. The members followed differ- ent themes throughout the school year, including such routines as A Royal Knight of Enchantment, performed at the beauty pageant. Members also per- formed at pep rallies. The newest member of the Silhou- ettes was Felipe Rosales, the only male member of the organization this year. He's really working out well, Navarro said. President Terry Irwin, Vice-President Tina Moore, and Secretary Kristy Rubal- caba organized fund raisers such as candy grams and the Santa's Helpers project. I hope they have enjoyed it as much as l did when I was in high school, con- cluded Navarro. 86 Silhouettes Y B Above: Felipe Rosales flys high over sister Ida Rosales. cu E N cu DD cts E Y l' T3 Lite Literary magazine creates emotion This year was The Exeter- literary magazine's fifth year at Hanks. It was made up of some of the most creative writers found on campus. In the past two years they have received various awards. Among them were: first place, second place and honorable mention in short story writingg first, second, and third place and honorable mention in poetry writing, second place in layout designg first and second place in art workg second and third place in humorous essay. The Exeter had a membership of forty students and it's officers were elected by the members. The club wanted to raise enough money to offer two or three scholarships for writers in their organization. I find the students who are involved energetic, enthusiastic, and l enjoyed working with them, said Dora de Ia Rosa, sponsor. Besides, l never know what they are going to think of next, so they keep me on my toes. Staff members work together to write magazine copy. bmi? u lx The Exeter staff: Kelly Woods, Yvonne Sanchez, Yasmin Thomas, Ray Orantia, Troy Byrne, Aaron Melgares, Albert Garcia, Eddie Garcia 88 Literary Magazine
