Choir displays musical talents Do, Re, Me, Fa, So, La, Te, Do . .. lf a person were enrolled in choir this past year, this might sound familiar. All sorts of people were attracted to choir with a common interest of music, singing and the performing arts. To be an outstanding choir student you have to have tremendous dedication to music and to your group, you also have to have much self- discipline, commented choir instructor, Ms. Beulah Herbold. Outstanding students for this past year included Melissa Parks, Monica Martinez and Eliza Stewart, who were all Area Choir members. Jeanette Molinar was the only student who qualified for All-State Choir. There were also many Hanks contestants in the Solo and Ensemble competition. There were around fifty students enrolled in choir this past year. Besides singing these students learned to read music, perform before an audience, and learned about the lives of different music composers. Sophomore Stephanie Giddens explained, Choir is fun and challenging, singing is a big part of my life. lf students didn't like to perform there were two separate boys and girls classes. Students could have tried-out for the Troubadours, a slightly more advanced, performing class. Hanks students displayed the needed dedication to make an outstanding choir year. 74 Choir Talal Hatar, Tim Cannon, Greg Anderson, Derek McClellan, Steve Painter, and Henry Barba.
