3 Rifles add ckwsto band This year's rifle corps added that extra touch of elegance to the silver Knight band. Although somtimes confused with the flag corps, they were different. They were the only all girl rifle corps in the district involved with band. They worked hard to perform well with the band and fulfill their expectations. They practiced with the band in the mornings and on their own after school. Because of the new members many hours of practice were needed to teach them the routines. Kellie Roberts, rifle captain, said, This years performances were a lot better than last years. Next year the corps plans to double the seven girl corp to fourteen. ln addition to performing with the band at football games and going with them to Lubbock for regionals, they also went to a summer camp in Arizona and performed at one pep rally. All of them agreed that the bruises and cuts were worth it, they achieved a great deal this year. We accomplished a great deal this year through unity and determination and hopefully we'II do even better next year, said Dana Matthews, rifle girl. 66 Rifles Skill is displayed by Isabel Ponce. av r Kellie Roberts performs during halftime.
