Band raises students' morale Again this year the Silver Knight band received superior ratings at district competition, making this the third year in a row the band has been considered superior. This was accomplished through hard work and a lot of dedication. The band was outside every morning, at 6:30 sharp, practicing their playing and perfecting their formations. The final product was impressive enough to dazzle the judges. The band played a very important part in school spirit. They played at virtually every game and were present at every pep rally. The band missed the Homecoming dance to participate in regional competition in Lubbock. According to Mr. Calderon this was one of the most talented group of musicians Hanks has ever had. There were 228 people in the band. I had a terrific time with the band, and with enough practice l know we can become the best band in Texas, said Scott Whithers. Band 61
