Class officers were elected in September and served all year long. They represented their class and gained the confidence of their peers. Everyone was eligible to vote for them and many did. Students voted for candi- dates in their own class rank. Candidates had to com- plete a petition and meet certain requirements before they could run. They cam- paigned for about a week us- ing creative posters to get their points across The senior sponsors were Kathy Borne, Charlene Mor ris, and Penny Wiscombe Junior sponsors were Ron Leiman and Irma Estrada Rhonda Letz and Angle Ken nedy sponsored the sopho mores while Beth Steele and Noel Knight handled the freshman class As' .44 I 'w fzfi ,, ,535 , ff , , Freshmen officers-Robert Douglas-v.pres Angelica Carreon sec Chris Puga pres Antonleta Carreon-trea., Ronnie Quintana-parl.

X NP David Hougin finds his English grade amusing. 54 Foreign Exchange Students David Hougin, Magnus Revaland, Ursela Bates, and Nils Olakivstad found that adapting to new customs, beliefs and traditions could be difficult and scary yet ex- citing. Being sent to America through a program called Youth for Understanding, an organization which spon- sors students from all over the world to travel, they were able to better under- stand different lifestyles. This program not only benefited these people but also all the other people who got to know them. This years exchange stu- dents took part in many school activities and were a welcome addition to Hanks.
