To take part in Q8.S you had to be a member of a publication staff and keep a grade point average of above 80. Juniors and Seniors in- ducted new members into the society in the spring after naming their organiza- tion after a professional journalist who has done out- standing work in the area of journalism. I think it's both an honor and a privilege for me to have been inducted into this organization, said James Scholz, advertising editor Shield staff. Xxx.. S? xx., Hanks had a variety of small clubs, and one that was sometimes forgot- ten was Spanish National Honor So- ciety. It had a very exclusive mem- bership, only three students were in the honors club. The reason for the exclusive mem- bership could be the requirements. To be inducted a person had to maintain an average above 85 and had to have been in at least Spanish 3. A new member was inducted into the club whenever a member gradu ated Mrs Sharon Burtls sponsor said that the small membership in creased the unity of the club and gave It a family type atmosphere This year s members were Monica Posslnger Albert Garcia and Lisa Noe Burtls said I really enjoyed spon sorlng the club and getting to know the kids I u n ll u - SNHS 49
