S ln-between reading, writ- ing, and arithmetic, stu- dents had the opportunity to pursue their creative in- terests. Students enrolled in the arts to broaden their ho- rizons and to add more ex- citement to a school day. The art classes taught stu- dents to further their own artistic styles in areas of drawing, tempra, and water colors. Always with a high enrollment, art was a popu- lar class. Keeping the music of Bee- thoven and Mozart alive, or- chestra was a welcome downbeat from today's highly technical popular music. Long hours of prac- tice were required to per- fect their musical talents. The band practiced every morning at 6:30 to earn their excellent ratings in competition. Both choir and modern dance filled the school with music and the desire to sing and dance. Students In this program went to school halfa day then worked the other half These students gained valu able experience In finding jobs, managing money and work schedules Mr Tony Ramirez ex planned The co op pro gram teaches students re ponslbllty and gives them job experience needed in the real world. Another important area was the business depart- ment. Here students Iearned many skills. Courses offered were: typing, data processing, ac- counting, record keeping, business law and personal finance. Jennifer Johnson practices secretarial skills.
