Charles Duncan lists facts in American history. 28 Social Studies In the past students often found social studies to be boring and only took classes to fullfull credits This year the department set out to get students more interested in the subject With newer teaching methods, students found themselves enjoying the classes. The main reason for the lack of enthusiasm is the great lack of understand- ing, explained Jim Owens, department head. New additions to the de- partment were the required economics courses. These additions were mandatory state wide, and were in- creasing in popularity. l l
