cademics One very important piece in the puzzle of Hanks High was the Academic department. This was the part of school few students appreciated and enjoyed. This year higher standards were put into effect: bigger dreams, higher goals and twice as much enthusiasm accompanied the new standards. New methods of teaching made learning more interesting and a newfound interest in knowledge made teaching more fulfilling. New rules and laws made it almost impossible to participate in an event if students weren't passing a class. Slowly academics earned their place in the life of a student. As people matured they realized the importance of academics and their role in college and in life. Hanks had one of the finest departments in the district and to keep the required classes from becoming monotonous, the department offered many different subjects to fulfill the elective requirements. ly Courses such as foreign languages, business courses and homemaking classes gave the academic department added variety and flavor. -
