B-tea rls G Girls develop court control This year the girls b-team bas- ketball team had a good playing year, finishing the season with a good district record. The girls determination helped their play- ing ability. Led by team captain Tracy Whitfield, the girls found their toughest opponents to be Eastwood and Parkland. The rivalry between Eastwood and the Knights was clearly seen on the court as the girls tried to defeat their opponents. Coach Rhonda Letz said the teams most consistent players were Whitfield and Sarah Dick- son. I was pleased with the girls, they put out a lot of ef- fort, said Letz. They practiced everyday, ex- cept on game days on basketball skills. The girls freshman basketball team, though they lacked the ex- perience of the upper teams, also had a good season. Practices in the morning and occasionally afterschool helped develop the skills needed to take part in high school competition. Team captains changed throughout the season and all team members had outstanding abilities. I was surprised at their abili- ty to learn so fast, said Coach Judy Roach. 220 A .
