17,9-Y Doach Miller drills team before the game. Actlvltles It was virtually impossible 1ot to get caught in the flow of Ectivities found at Hanks. In ne way or another almost gvery student participated in school events. Joining a club or an Jrganization was one way to get involved in extra-curricular activities. For those who were 1ot the joining type, pep rallies and football games provided :he opportunity to support :heir school. For example, students Coach Williams gets the pep rally going. ' ' ' ignite spirit showed their school and class spirit at the pep rallies sponsored by Esprit de Corps. Competing for the coveted spirit stick, symbol of outstanding class pride, was a very important part of pep rallies. The senior and junior classes, gained the most spirit since they won most of the competitions. Other contests, such as a pudding eating contest, a potato and a big wheel race provided competitive fun for the students. Some thought the pep rallies a waste of time, yet true Knights knew of the secrets hidden inside of them. Even though class yell competitions were highly popular, they divided the student body only during the competitions. They helped piece together a small part of the puzzle that when fully completed reflected the unity found at Hanks. Student Life 9
