FORE ORD l952 marks Wlnchester s brcentennlal More than two centurres ago the frrst whlte 1nhab1tants settled 1n the beautrful Shenandoah Valley and the small communlty wh1ch 1S now Winchester had 1ts beg1nn1ng Srnce then It has grown from log cabms and forest tra1ls to a prosperous C1tY noted for her apple rndustry and her many pornts of h1stor1cal ln terest 1952 marks an endlng and a beg1nn1ng for our class We say farewell to Handley Hrgh School to become c1t1zens 1n a larger communrty Our h1gh school career has provlded the foundatlon upon wh1ch we may bulld our futures Because of the realrzatron that Wlnchester and 1t c1t1zens have made pOSS1bl6 our educatron and that most of us w1ll soon become act1Vely assocrated with the l1fe of the c1ty the class of l952 feels 1t would l1ke to have a part 1n celebratlng the b1centenn1al We are therefore proud to adopt as the theme for our yearbook Wlnchester and the good c1t1zensh1p wh1ch we feel 1t symbolrzes.
