GARLAND R QUARLES Supenntendent and Prlnclpal Mr Quarles our supermtendent graduated from the Ashland H1gh School 1n 1919 and then becarne a student at Randolph Macon College Where he re cewed h1s Bachelor of Arts degree 1n 1923 He ob tamed a Master of Arts degree 1n 1927 frorn the Un1vers1ty of V1rg1n1a From 1923 1928 he held the pos1t1or1 of Enghsh 1nstructor rn the Handley H1gh School He was then rnade pr1nc1pal of th1s founda t1on from 1928 to 1930 and 1n 1930 was appolnted Pnnc pal and Supenntendent of the Wlnchester Pub BESSIE L CORKEY Asslstant Pr1nc1pal M1ss Besste L Corkey Was graduated from hlgh school and then attended the Teachers '1'ra1n1ng School at Trenton New lersey Her B S degree was recetved from Colurnb1a and Ed M degree from Harvard After teachxng at many schools she came to Handley 1n 1919 from Westv1lle New lersey to teach Sclence and Soclal Studles Where after sev eral years of teachmg and supervtstng she was appomted 1n 1923 to the posttlon she holds today asslstant prmclpal of the Handley H1gh School lic Schools, which office he still holds. -
